Sarah sets out a dozen pizzas with any and every topping under the sun and flops down on the couch to read "The Stand". Anyone passing her may hear derisive laughter every time she flips a page.

Tara looks over the pizzas, smiling when she sees the vegetarian option before turning nervously to look at Principal Connor. Taking a deep breath, she moves over to the couch.

"Um, Principal Connor?"

Sarah looks up from her book. "Yeah, what's up?"

"Um, I was wondering if I needed any special permission to modify my classroom. Or if I can just do what I like with it." Biting her tongue, Tara stops herself from babbling. The Principal didn't look like the patient type.

Charlie comes in when his classes are done, grabs a slice of anchovey topped pizza and sits down to do some more calculations. Just for fun, of course.

"Nah, no permission needed. Knock yourself out. Whatever makes these little bastards learn better, right?"

"Thank you, Principal Connor." Tara backs away, no more willing to turn her back on this woman than she would a vampire tiger, heading for the relative safety of pizza.

Tara looks at him curiously. "I've never seen anybody actually eat anchovies before."

"Oh, I love them more than all the other fishes," Charlie says solemnly, then grins and munches down on his slice.

Tara's brow furrows. "Is that a quote from something? ...I don't get the joke. Sorry."

Charlie grins at the confused expression on Tara's face. "No, I made it up myself. I like anchovies. What're you having?"

(OOC: Oh, dude, "The Stand" is soooo my favorite. I blame it for getting me addicted at a young age to apocalyptic fiction. And I've always said that if I ever got on Survivor, that book would be my luxury item. :))

"Vegetarian," Tara looks at the pizza. "But I can't think of anything witty to say about it." She blushes a little.

Mac walks into the lounge, grabs a slice of pizza and picks off a couple of pieces of pineapple. He settles down on the couch reading "Popular Mechanics" but wouldn't mind being distracted.

Mac looks up from his magazine and smiles.

"Yep. I'm the new shop teacher. Name's MacGyver though everyone calls me 'Mac'" he says holding out his hand for a handshake.

Oh, thank God...I had no clue where I had left it last night. And it put in me in quite a spot. I couldn't get back in and had to stay with Tara...and borrow her clothes. [gestures to a very un-CJ like ensemble of a buttery yellow sweater and a rust coloured broomstick hippy skirt]

You look very... pastoral. And you're welcome... although for what I don't know. I wasn't even there to let you in last night.

I've thought that it might be easier on you if I had a copy of the key made, so you could get your things at your leisure... but I didn't want you to think I was trying to get rid of you faster. But if I had, you wouldn't have be stuck on my doorstep -- although you clearly managed to take care of yourself, with Prof. Maclay's help.

A spare key would actually be a good idea. That way if there is an emergency I can get in...like...plumbing. [God that sounds incredibly stupid...plumbing]

I showed up last night...oh, I'm not so proud I can't tell you. Ten and I had a...discussion. I left and went and got drunk. stopped a bar fight, bandaged the victim at somewhere I'd never been, and in trying to get home I got lost. I finally realized that I was in the common yard of the complex and I thought...[she blushes] I thought you might help me.

In this town, the emergency seems far more likely the need to be able to get inside away from whatever is chasing you. I'll get a key made and you can pick it up when you come over for dinner. Although with this spread [::gestures to the pizzas:::] anything I get would be second rate. I've yet to go to Deb's Diva Dive... would you join me?

Tara sees the cake and bites her lip, hiding her face behind her hair for a moment while she blinks back tears. She cuts herself a piece of cake and goes to sit down, staring at the cake in disbelief.
