Staff Meeting

Good morning, all. I'm afraid I have some bad news. No-one has seen Katherine "Kitty" Pryde for several days, and I have sufficient evidence to presume her death. Yesterday, when I was not thinking, I may have solicited faculty help for a vigilante campaign to bring this matter to justice. I apologize for that now, and rescind the offer.

I'm asking that, as a staff, you do your jobs. I will be making an official announcement to the student body soon, and there will be upset students. Talk to them about death, what it means, how to cope. There are several counselors in town that you may recommend for those hit particularly hard. Right now, the students will need you here, emotionally present and willing to listen -- not out there, investigating a potential crime that we have no jurisdiction over.

I will be keeping in close contact with the proper authorities and will keep you updated on the resolution of this matter. My office hours are always open if you feel the need to discuss this.

Ted's presence is an oddity in itself, but what's even stranger is that he's actually quiet. He stares off into space as the news is told and has a standard 'whoa' expression on his face. Death? Here? Dude. He wondered if his good friend the Grim Reaper had any news about it, but seeing as though he was on tour at the moment, Ted doubted it.

He made a mental note to consider the 'death' thing for this week's class. The little dudes would need a special treat this week to keep their spirits up. This called for ordering pizza.

Daniel nods, dread creeping into his heart. This sort of thing wasn't supposed to happen here.

He tries not to fidget in his chair, having a strong desire to go and see Janet.

He feels that he, and the school, have failed.

He says nothing before departing to his classroom.

The Tick nodded, knowing that teaching Criminal Justice when a death had just happened wasn't going to be easy. Even moreso than the serious issues they had already discussed in class, this was Serious.

Drusilla listens quietly to the Dean, a little smile playing across her lips when no one is watching her.

Sarah frowns at that. Yeah, she might give a shit, but even she knows she's the last person in school any of these little punks should talk to. Talking about death with Sarah will be like trying to talk about the Yankees with a Red Sox fan, only with slightly louder screaming but less frothing at the mouth.

She'll bring the puppies to study hall, though. The kids'll like it.

And it should keep her from storming out, grabbing a weapon, and issuing a little justice.

Grissom's shoulders fall in a resigned slump. He nods and shuffles out the door, curious as to when the student body will be properly informed, as rumors can be a destructive force in a school setting.

[The Doctor sits next to Geoff, his arms crossed. His eyes narrow at Dean Bristow's comments, but he says nothing.

He feels suddenly very, very old. It's not something he enjoys.]

Scooter takes a seat near the back of the room, feeling unsure of his place in the staff hierarchy. When the announcement that there was substantial evidence pointing to one of the students not only being missing but dead was made, he couldn't find it in himself to be all that shocked. The school could list zombies and gremlins and mutant squid among its dangers; somebody turning up dead was practically inevitable.

He had an A/V Club meeting to run this evening . . . and he had no idea whether any of its members had been close to the dead girl. He supposed he should be prepared to deal with grief all the same. Perhaps he could do something for the larger student body?
