Fandom Lounge 11/30

Today's food is compliments of CJ. It's comfort food day. Mashed potatoes and chicken gravy, biscuits and country gravy, egg noodles with butter and parmesan cheese. Crackers....lots of cracjers. Big pitchers of ice water. Pudding. Tons of fat laden, carb rich foods. You might think she's feeding a small army of bulemics for the caloric intake of carbs versus the ease of these foods to find their way back up.

CJ lays on the couch with her arm across her eyes and a glass of water in her hand.

[Ten magics up finds a blanket and puts it over her gently. His voice is soft, and frankly, he doesn't look that great either.] Love, are you sure you don't want to go home?

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-11-30 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[He winces and gets her a cool damp rag for her head.] There's not anything I can get for you, is there?

Shhh. You were upset, it's a natural response. [He goes in his coat pocket and finds some Excedrin, then pours her some more water, bringing it over to the couch and putting it in her hand.]

Worried sick and exhausted, but other than that, I'm peachy keen. [He sits on the floor next to the couch.] I need to know what happened. You don't need to tell me right here and now, but...I need to know.

[He picks up one of her wrists and turns it over. His voice is still gentle.] Looks like one hell of a misunderstanding.

Geoff walks into the lounge for his meeting with Jenny Calendar. Spotting CJ on the couch, he gives her a worried frown and quietly sits down someplace where he's not too close to bother her, but can still see her if she needs anything.

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-11-30 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"CJ," he says in a very quiet voice. "Are you ill? Don't you think you ought to go home?"

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-11-30 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Geoff nods, looking concerned. "Just let me know if you need anything. Or, I'll clear out if you want the place to yourself. Put up a note on the door if you like -- "Hungover speech professor. Do not disturb."

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-11-30 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Geoff nods, and settles more comfortable into his chair, keeping his voice low. "Pretty well. We had a slight verbal altercation in Lit yesterday, but nothing serious. I had a really nice talk with Elizabeth Weir during office hours yesterday, too. She's really a delight to have in my class, and I'm pretty certain I've got her convinced to register next term."

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-11-30 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're lucky, then. I bet she's a great TA. Maybe I'll try and steal her from you next term."

He scowls with worry. "CJ, let me walk you down to the clinic. Maybe one of the doctors can give you something, at the very least a quieter place to lie down."

Jenny shows up late, because OMG, work was crazy today IRL, sorry and looks around for Professor Chaucer. Unfortunately, she has no idea what he looks like.

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Geoff has no idea what Professor Calendar looks like either, but the lounge is pretty empty and when the young woman walks in looking as though she's expecting to see someone, he figures he'll take a chance.

"You wouldn't be Professor Calendar, would you?" he says, standing.

"Oh, God," says Jenny. "Just call me Jenny, okay? Or Ms. Calendar if you feel some kind of weird need to be formal." She grins. "Professor Chaucer, I take it?" She holds out her hand. "Nice to meet you!"

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Geoff takes her hand and kisses the back of it. "A pleasure to meet you then, Jenny. Call me Geoff. I appreciate your meeting with me."

He waves her toward a chair. "I understand you're the new psychology teacher?"

"The one and only!" said Jenny. She was just going to shake his hand, but, hey, what was there to complain about. "So you teach Western Lit, then, Geoff?"

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
He nods. "That and poetry. But it's the Western Lit class that I wanted to talk to you about. Or rather, two of my students in that class -- Paige Matthews and James Ford. I understand there's been some sort of scheduling conflict come up?"

[personal profile] romanywitch 2005-12-01 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Apparently," said Jenny. "See, here's the thing. Drusilla? Never ran class on a set day or time. So I changed that, and told any of my students that they should bring me a copy of their class schedule if there were any conflicts. Or e-mail it to me. Same difference, right?"

Jenny shrugged. "Except that Paige and Sawyer decided to e-mail me right as class started and let me know they weren't going to be in class. No copy of their class schedule so I'd have something showing the conflict. And I'd given them four chances to get it to me--I had office hours last week and this week, and sent out two group e-mails to the class. So I told them they needed a note from you confirming their unavailability on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. It's the penalty they pay for not listening to me and getting me their class schedule before I actually held a class they couldn't attend."

Jenny frowned. "And what did they tell you about the situation, Geoff?"
