Faculty Hour

Jenny's managed to haul in a whole bunch of coffee for today. What's life without caffeine? She's also got tea--black and herbal--for the decaf and non-coffee-drinking freaks types.

The food table has hummus, baba ganoush and pita, chips and salsa--spicy and mild, as well as some melted cheese dip and nacho toppings--sliced fruit and berries set next to a dip that's labelled as vanilla yogurt and cream cheese, vegetables and ranch dressing, spring rolls--vegetarian and shrimp--with plum sauce, and off in the back of the table, melted chocolate with strawberries and other fruits for dipping.

Jenny's sitting in a corner, a plate of food and a large mug of coffee next to her, and is typing away on her laptop.

OOC ETA: There is a conversation between CJ Cregg and Daniel Jackson that has been screened (either permanently or temporarily, I'm not sure) due to a player issue. Thank you.

[Ten actually squees upong seeing the nacho cheese dip. He takes a lot of it and some coffee and smiles at Jenny.]

[He sits (very carefully) and begins dipping chips in his dip.] It's...going all right. The usual holiday and end of term blues, I fear. And yourself?

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ten runs a hand through his hair in thought. Doing so, he nearly spills his plate, and in going to catch it, winces in pain. This is all over in about five seconds.] Uh...I think there's the NPC Boulangerie...though I don't know if they'd do gingerbread, being mostly French.

Mac grabs a plate of pita chips and hummus and settles down on the couch reading the Sports Illustrated for the latest Hockey news.

[identity profile] manofthemullet.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac waves back. "Hi. You're the new psych professor, right? I'm MacGyver. Welcome to our strange little world."

[identity profile] manofthemullet.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh I teach Shop, but it's more of a course on problem solving than say... learning to wire a lamp or building a footstool. Makes classwork more interesting. How are you dealing with your class? The old psych professor was... uh... interesting to say the least. I never did meet her, but you hear things."

[identity profile] manofthemullet.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac smiles. "Actually they all work hard. Not a slacker in the bunch except for this kid who looks almost exactly like me. I really enjoy seeing them come up with different solutions to a problem. I guess I'm lucky. So what did you do before you came to fandom? Were you a psychologist?"

[identity profile] manofthemullet.livejournal.com 2005-12-07 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Kind of a shift in fields isn't it? Technology huh? What was your specialty, hardware or software?"

Mac takes a bite of the pita and hummus.

"Good hummus by the way... I assume you made it?"

[identity profile] manofthemullet.livejournal.com 2005-12-07 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac grinned back. "I'm not much of a computer guy, though I've been known to mess around with a circuit board from time to time. Usually trying to either fix or break it, depending on the circumstances involved."

Mac snacked on more of the hummus.

"So you're a professionally trained teacher? I think that's something unique for this high school. I find myself improvising almost everything for class. Grading the kids' projects is going to be an interesting process."

[identity profile] manofthemullet.livejournal.com 2005-12-07 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well... I previously worked as a troubleshooter for an international organization. Occasionally I had to hack my way into some secure areas in order to fix problems. I assure you though that it was all in the interest of the better good," Mac says as he pushes his finished plate of hummus aside. "Though I may take you up on your offer for help. The program that runs the holographic/hard light emitters in the shop can be a little flaky and the programming is a total mystery to me."

[identity profile] manofthemullet.livejournal.com 2005-12-07 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Unusual isn't the word for it," Mac said with a grin. "It's from this place called Shi'ar, but I've never found it on the map. I originally bought the equipment from a school up North called 'Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.' It can replicate virtually any environment you want. The hardware for it appears to be okay, but putting in new environments can be a bit of a pain."

Mac takes a sip of his coffee.

"You can drop by my class on Thursday morning if you are interested in seeing it in action."

Coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee!!

Daniel's nose actually twitched when he smelt the coffee, and he immediately headed straight for the table to pour himself a large mug. He sighed happily.

Hi Daniel, How has your term gone? [she sits, dipping pita in hummus, but not actually eating it.]

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
*turns and smiles*

CJ, good to see you. Term has been *laughs* exhausting. Although I wish more of my students realized that the term was still going. How about you?

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's good. Ups and downs..we'll se how much they've learned. I've gotten word back from Bristow and Red and I'm going to have them interact with authority for a final project. It should push them.

[She looks down at the hummus, drawing a smiliey face in it with her pita] How's Janet?

*nods* I need to work on my finals. Of course, I've only just finished marking my midterms, but still

*a soft smile creeps across hs face*

She's... she's great. Took me ice skating on Sunday, which I've never done before. She managed to drag me aroud the rink without actually falling over!

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like fun. So...Daniel...can I ask you a personal question?

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
*He looks at her curiously, before taking a mouthful of coffee*

Sure.
