Teacher's Lounge is Open -- 12/8/2005

Since he couldn't think of anything better, Methos bought doughnuts and fruit from the NPC Grocery and piled them in the lounge. And also made lots and lots of coffee, as well as setting out tea things (no bags, proper loose tea and tea balls). On a hot plate a large kettle of apple cider is steaming.

Doughnuts. Fruit. Coffee.

She picks up an apple, then promptly grabs four chocolate covered with sprinkles and sits down with a cup of black coffee. It's a fine snack before her office hour, and there's no reason she ought to sit on the doughnuts and just speed the process of carb-filled goodness going straight to her butt.

You're....drinking beer and watching bad movies? [Her eyes twkle with amusement as she eats one of her doughnuts.]

Because you're utterly insane? [Her laughter rings out through the room] Who suckered you into that?

[With a clearly forced pleasantness] First two don't count...that leaves Janet, hmm? [She sips her coffee, and picks up another doughnut] Have fun. Chicago's a great city.

Are you bringing me back an obscenly large diamond? she says ever so casually]

"Ooh, cider," said Jenny. "And made with with mulling spices. I could give up coffee for this stuff. At least for now." She poured herself a mug of cider and put a glazed doughnut on a napkin, then sat down to eat.

"Fandom High's not so bad," said Jenny. "Gotta say, not missing Sunnydale High all that much, you know?" She took a drink of her cider and a very large bite of doughnut.

"Nice tea too," said Jenny. "My last--school librarian. He had a thing for tea brewed the right way. Though you're a little less tweedy than he was."

"Who, Lorne?" asks Jenny. "Yeah, nice guy. From L.A., apparently. Gotta say, not used to demons being nice. Or fans of music. Usually they're all 'grr, argh, I kill you now.'" She grins. "Tea snobs all over the world are thanking you, though. Not to mention the boyfriend, of course."

"You ever been to Sunnydale?" asked Jenny. "It's a freak show. I'm guessing with survival? Don't use the NPC Real Estate Agency. The first guy they sent over was possessed by an Ethros demon. Gotta say, that wasn't a pleasant experience."

Poping in to get a drink, Eighth decides to actually take advantage of the lounge for once and sits herself down, sighing with a small smile.

Eighth gives the omg another SG1 villain...only not him a wide smile. "Well hello. I'm Eighth," and she reaches out to shake his hand. "You may know a...," and she laughs, "...relative of mine with the same name who attends this school."

((OOC: Somewhere, off in the library distance, Janet choked on her coffee.))

Jenny waved at the blond teacher who'd just walked in.

Eighth grins in response. Maybe she should come to the lounge more often.

"You're obviously not new here," says Jenny. "Or everyone would be swarming you asking if you were new." She grins ruefully. "How's it going?"

[identity profile] replicarter.livejournal.com 2005-12-08 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, not new. I usually keep to myself, though," she says, not without a touch of melancholy. "Things are fine! There's an assignment due tomorrow and I fear that my students may have put off writing it till tonight. It's a bit irritating. But nevermind that, I'm sorry, I'm Eighth, cyborg theory teacher. And you?"

"Jenny Calendar." Jenny holds out her hand. She's not asking about the weird name. There are too many at this school to ask about each and every one. "Pysch teacher. And before you ask? Yes, I'm a real teacher. I taught computer science over in California before I got this gig."

Jenny grins ruefully. "I feel your pain. Some of my kids? Haven't done homework all semester."

[identity profile] replicarter.livejournal.com 2005-12-08 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pysch teacher?" she asks, tilting her head. "What sort of things do you teach?" she continues with interest.

"Right now, the kids are designing their own experiments," said Jenny. "It's sort of their midterm and final project all at once. I'm having fun watching them come up with projects and get excited about them. Next term? I'm thinking we'll run something a little more basic."

[identity profile] replicarter.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"But what kind of experiments are they? I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject," she asks.
romanywitch: (Default)

[personal profile] romanywitch 2005-12-09 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pretty simple ones, mostly," said Jenny. "Studies of perception. You know, give someone two pictures, make them pick one. Then, take the pictures back, hand them the one they didn't pick, but tell them it was the one they picked. Then ask them why they chose that one. You get some interesting responses. If you want to see it in action, I can send them over to do their experiments on your students some time."

Jenny took another drink of her cider. She'd have added more cinnamon than Adam did. "So, cyborg theory, though? Pretty advanced-sounding stuff. I can see how it might be related to psych."

Lured by the scent of tea, Dream enters the lounge.

He takes a mug and half of a donut, then busies himself with some paperwork.

[The Doctor comes in and drinks two mugs worth of coffee. And then another of cider, in rapid succession. Only then is he able to make conversation and generally look awake.]
