Faculty Lounge: [1/9]

After Shop, Mac opens up the lounge and brings in some fresh coffee not from class bagles, muffins and doughnuts.

He then kicks back on one of the sofas and reads the most recent issue of "The Daily Bugle".

Jenny winces. "Gotta say, you might want to alert the clinic if you end up trying that coffee out. At least none of the coffee machines exploded." She pauses, then adds, "None them exploded, right?"

She's already run Psych 101 and her class on Jung not that anyone's had a chance to post yet. "I've had two out of three classes today, and everyone seems to be good. One girl has a slightly wicked sense of humor, but I think we can keep her on track." Jenny grins. "Magical Theory's later today. I'll let you know after it runs."

Mac shrugs. "The kids are too smart to drink anything that looks like it came from a junkyard at least so far and nothing blew up yet, so I consider that a good class. I'd be more worried about something blowing up in Magical Theory myself."

"Good to know," says Jenny, taking a drink of her coffee. "Really, drinking that would kinda exemplify 'survival of the fittest,' right? And Magical Theory? Pretty much the first hint I catch of actual magic going down, someone's getting in trouble." Jenny smiled cheerfully. "A whole lotta trouble. I'm sure someone's going to try it, even though I'm going to warn them against it."

Mac gives Jenny a sly grin. "Well I know better than to mess with one of your warnings. Let's hope your students are just as smart."

"I've never had to give you a warning," said Jenny. The look she gave him was a touch more heated than was quite appropriate for the faculty lounge, but the only people around were her boyfriend and a friend. So she wasn't too worried. "But they're teenagers. They're gonna test the limits of what they can get away with."

Mac kind of flustered at Jenny's look. "Uh.. true. Very true. Just make sure you let me know which students are yours for when I have detention. I don't want to end up with a tail or giant ears or anything."

Jenny grins at his flustered look. "I don't think they could get away with doing that on school grounds," she says, laughing.

"Well... you never know," Mac chuckled. "I mean, I think back to when I was a kid and the trouble I got away with..."

"You were a bad boy when you were growing up?" asks Jenny. Her laughter rings out. How is it she keeps going for former bad boys? "But I doubt you managed to turn anyone into a newt, right? That's a pretty major working right there."

"Well I wasn't bad as much as I... participated in several episodes of hijinks." Mac said with a small grin.

"Hijinks?" asks Jenny curiously. Her eyes sparkle with amusement. "What kind of hijinks?"

Mac coughs embarrased. "Well... There was the occasional minor explosion. Of a still. Maybe some temporary hair loss as a result..."

He chuckles a little and decides to turn the tables a little bit. "What about you Ms. Calendar? Were you a good little girl in high school?"

"Your hair loss or someone else's?" Jenny laughs at him. "I'd think you'd get in trouble more if it had been someone else's."

Then Jenny stops laughing. "Oh, I was pretty horrible," she said, only a little abashed. "I was not so good with the attitude. Or the homework. Or the attendance, depending on the class."

"And here you are a teacher. I can respect the irony." Mac elbows Jenny in her side with his elbow.

"Yeah, but I know all the tricks of the trade," says Jenny, grinning at him. "Hard to get away with anything that way." She nudges him back. "So I guess maybe I shouldn't be teasing you. But it's so much fun."

"I don't mind the teasing. I can handle that without a problem," he says. He then adds with a small grin and another nudge, "All the tricks of the trade?"

"So I noticed," says Jenny, reining in the urge to give him a quick kiss. She smiles, bemused, as she nudges her again. "Cute," she says, then goes on to clarify. "I've seen just about every trick in the book to get out of schoolwork."

"I bet you do," Mac said with a little bit of a smirk.

He then checks his watch. "Ugh. Office hours. Come by later if you want to work on the Shop program, k?"

Jenny just grinned at him.

"Yeah, I think I should head out to Magical Theory anyway," she said. "I'll see you around. Your shop program? Kinda calling my name, I think."

And if Jenny listens carefully, she might here Mac say right before he leaves: "You sure that's the shop calling you?"
