Faculty Lounge: [1/9]

After Shop, Mac opens up the lounge and brings in some fresh coffee not from class bagles, muffins and doughnuts.

He then kicks back on one of the sofas and reads the most recent issue of "The Daily Bugle".

"Well I try. That's the important part right?" Mac asks with grin.

"So tell me Samantha, what do you teach?"

"Last semester I taught Cyborg theory, this semester I'm teaching a theory class in war tactics," she says, oh-so-angelically.

Mac raises an eyebrow on that. "Really? That's quite a change in fields. What kind of background do you have?"

Eighth thinks about this a moment. "Astrophysics. Air Force. And the whole thing about me being in charge of a race - as it were - of replicating robots."

"Ah," she says. "Yes, you know that theory about how extraterrestrials will be sentient robotic chips that replicate themselves, therefore allowing for the length of space travel from one galaxy to another? Well, my brethren, as I call them, are the reality of that theory."

"Extra-?... Chips?... Galaxy?..."

Mac takes a look at his cup of coffee to make sure he didn't take it from shop class.

"And you're related to Sam, how?"

She smiles calmly and contacts one of her brethren to join them. "We have a complex family history, Mac."

Mac tries to swallow his confusion. "It's okay, I'm just wondering if one of the kids dropped acid into my coffee this morning."

"Oh, no," she says and her eyes light up as she hears the whirring noise a single replicator enter the lounge. "Here we go," she says, pridefully as the replicator climbs up her leg and perches on her lap. "This is the kind of robot I was speaking of."

Mac looks at the spider-like thing on her lap...

And checks again to see if someone slipped something into his coffee.

"Uh-huh and where exactly did these robots come from? Again?"

"This galaxy, actually. A gynoid created them to be her friends but it kind of got out of hand -- anyway, enough about me," and she told the replicator to flatten itself under the lounge desk and wait. "Tell me more about yourself, Mac. You're from Earth, I suppose?"

Mac watched the replicator go and shook his head in puzzlement. "Me? Oh. Yes. Definitely from planet Earth. Actually I went to school here at one point but had to drop out. When I left my old job I got an invite to teach shop here and came back only a couple of weeks after I left."

Mac shook his head.

"This place is the motherload of weird."
