Teacher's Lounge 2/16

Grissom comes in bright and early and opens the Lounge. There is coffee, there are baked goods that look like danishes, and there's a spread for lunch that's vaguely picnic-y - sandwich fixings, various foods that involve the word salad in their name and feature mayonnaise, and also fruit salad and a real salad ~~because he's whipped, okay?~~

There are also some leftover holiday chocolates still out, that are bug-free. Yes, really.

Oh, and Grissom is definitely rocking the hat today. It's looking pretty fly.

"Technically, the knowledge I don't possess is infinite."

He gives her a shy grin. "How about you? How did you gain such insight into your field?"

"I went to college for a long time, and I've been working even longer. I've had a great staff and stayed on top of things...oh, and I like to talk. That helps."

Tucking her hair behind her ear, she grins back at him.

"Plus, it's not that hard if you just watch people and pay attention. We all do the same things in given situations. It's the rhetoric of life."

He gives her a curious look, not one quite of disbelief, but of an unnatural state of not completely understanding.

"So, you have most people figured out, then?"

"Pretty much. You talk to anyone for very long and what they don't say tells you more than what they do. Syntax lies. Take away words and what's left?"

Grissom smiles, sticking his fork into his salad.

"You missed your calling as an investigator, CJ."

"I do better with the living, Gil. I don't think I could do your job. Well, your old job." Quirking her mouth as she thinks, she cocks her head and laughs, "Actually, I couldn't do your job now."

"I think you are underestimating your potential talents in the fields of investigation and interrogation," he chuckles.

"And, to be honest, you could do a better job than I, teaching Sociology. I've had to adapt my curriculum to cater to my strengths to get by. I have no doubt that you could do the same, in an exceedingly more graceful manner."

"Adapt how? I've guest lectured in Geoff's class, I'd be happy to do the same for you." nodding slightly, she begins again on her sandwich in earnest.

"Sex or Violence?" he says with a smirk.

"Unless you want to share your experiences as an new-found adolescent in my Paranormal class."

"Let's skip the re-puberty of CJ...I've got that optioned for a three picture deal. Would you rather have me for sex or violence?"

"I thought you were particularly adept at reading people," he says ~~rather smuttily omg.~~ "You can't tell by my un-spoken dialogue with you?"

Arching her eyebrow, she leans in a bit closer. "I've had you pegged for weeks, Gil. What time is Sex? I'll do that for you. Violence...not my favorite ~~except when I'm a naughty, naughty girl.~~

Oh sweet gods. *swoons*

"Sounds like something I would more than happy to arrange. If you're serious, that is."

~~*blinks innocently*~~

"I'm absolutely serious, Gil. You want me, I'm yours. But I'm a firm believer in reciprocity, you know. If I do this for you, what will you do for me?"

Gil ponders for a moment.

"That's an interesting question. And one I might not be prepared to answer, considering my general lack of skills when it comes to reading people. Boundaries are a tricky thing," he muses with a smile, shifting food around on his plate.

"How about non-verbals? As an investigator couldn't you come up with something? Or I'd be happy to have you in my advanced course. We do image analysis and power ~~you know, porn~~...stuff like that."

Finishing her sandwich, she gets up to grab a cup of coffee.

"Or you can just owe me."

"I'm sure I could come up with something, but other arrangements would also be acceptable."
