Teacher's Lounge [Tuesday, October 3, all day]

Josh gave Biff a friendly wave, then walked into the teacher's lounge with two sheets of paper--one for teachers to sign up as chaperones for the dance on Friday night and another for them to sign up to sit in the dunk tank or agree to get pies thrown at them.

Given the lack of sports teams at the moment, Josh was feeling pretty good about his odds of remaining pie-free.

Josh was very, very dumb sometimes.

He tacked the two lists onto the bulletin board, left out bribes in the form of coffee and doughnuts, then flipped the television to CNN and tried to catch up on the latest Congressional scandal.

"Congress is setting a new low for just how far some members will sink," Josh said, sounding disgusted.

He brightened when he saw what Abby was drinking. "That stuff is great!" he said. "I tried some a few weeks back and got through my class lecture in half the time!"

"That seems nearly impossible." Abby eyed the TV.

"Really? That's great!" Abby nodded and lifted her cup in a toast. "It was the main thing I was worried about when I moved here. I can't live without it."

"Meet former Representative Foley," Josh said, rolling his eyes, "the October surprise the Republicans really weren't looking for."

He shifted back to the far more pleasant topic. "Thanks for telling me about it!"

He kicked his feet up onto a nearby table. "How are you settling in, then? Any students giving you problems?" Josh grinned wickedly. "Did you get a gremlin in your desk, too?"

"I'm converting people, one caffeine addict at a time." Abby said with a grin. "I had one problem with a kid who kept poking his computer, but after having to watch boring computer tech movies in my office for a couple of hours he's doing much better."

"I did! I implanted a camera inside it and sent it back to my friends at the office. Now I get scared NCIS agent photos in my email everyday."

Josh laughed. "I wish I had thought about that," he said. "But CJ knows where I live and she'd probably drive back just for making her squeal in front of the press corps."

He paused, thinking about it. "It might be worth it anyway."

"Pfft." Abby waved her hand dismissively. "All my friends have guns and I still did it. If you're interested...I might be able to scrounge up a spare microcamera."

"I'm always willing to donate technology for the greater good." Abby nodded. "Do you still have your gremlin?"

"I do," Josh said. "I named him Bob."

"Does Bob want to undergo surgery and travel to Washington? Or should I see if I can find another gremlin?"

"I think Bob is definitely up for an adventure," Josh decided, standing up. "Let me go get him."

He returned to the lounge with the paper gremlin. "Here you go!"

Abby laughed and looked over Bob. "Okay, I'll take Bob home tonight and get him all set up. If you stop by my class tomorrow morning you can pick him up!"

"I'll see you then," Josh promised. "I bet we'll be able to hear the squealing from here."

"Maybe I should reconfigure it to capture sound as well." Abby smiled. "Because I would hate for you to miss out on the squealing."

Josh burst out laughing. "That would be perfect." He nodded his head towards the sign-up sheets. "As a thank you, I'll be sure to miss you at the pie-tossing."
