Teacher's Lounge, Tuesday

Someone looking into the lounge might think that Vala was being conscientious--she was writing industriously on a legal pad, cup of coffee and something called a doughnut by her side.

The first page was covered with notes from her lecture the day before--mostly about places to rob and possible accomplices. Not that Karal person, obviously, but her class had a number of nice prospects in that regard.

Each page under the top one had a name of one of the locations, the valuable items noted by the students, and any possible drawbacks, including security.

Cairo was still looking pretty tempting, though.

After her class, Aly wandered into the lounge, looking for coffee. She only had a slight double-take at the 'Aeryn teaching? ...oh wait, she's older' situation then nodded. "Morning."

"Hello," she greeted the newcomer, then guessed based on the hair, "And you must know Ares?"

Aly grinned. "Whatever he said? All lies."

Vala grinned back and stretched, "Not all lies, I hope."

Chuckling, Aly poured herself a cup of coffee and took a seat. "You're probably right, him being a God and all. Just evasions and half-truths then."

"My favorite kind," Vala offered her half a doughnut, "I'm Vala, by the way. What's the real story behind the hair?"

"Oh!" Aly took the doughnut with a nod of thanks. "I'm Aly. Apparently I'm supposed to be your 'teaching buddy'" There was a definite eyeroll at the term. "Well, now the hair's a trend. Before it was two people upset I got them married last week."

"You got two people married against their will?" She asked, leaning forward, "And how did the blue hair help?"

"Oh, they wanted to," Aly said with a bit of a smirk. "They just haven't quite admitted it to themselves yet." She shook the hair out of her eyes. "The blue hair's their idea - or one of their ideas - of revenge."

"Wouldn't better revenge be marrying you against your will to someone you're not ready to be married to?" Vala suggested, "Not that there's anything wrong with blue."

"Probably," Aly agreed. "But they didn't think of that. I'm a bit disappointed in the blue to tell the truth. Lack of imagination."

"What would you have done instead?"

"To get revenge on myself?" Aly asked, eyebrow raised. "Probably not fallen for the trick in the first place."

Vala laughed, "No, I meant if the situations were reversed."

Aly grinned. "I think I'm going to have to keep that to myself. I have a feeling I'll need more revenge coming up shortly."

"Oh? Why is that? And could I be of assistance?" Hey, nothing like helping out the teaching buddy. It was always good to be owed favors.

"I'll have to let you know if I need another hand," she said with an appraising look. "It's quite possible."

"So, do you have any advice for a new instructor?" Vala asked.

"Don't underestimate the students," Aly said with a grin. "The best coffee is in here, and Caritas is way better than the Devil's Nest."

She nodded and made some more notes on her pad. "Don't underestimate them in which ways?"
