Faculty lounge [After first period, all day]

Josh wandered into the faculty lounge after his government class, put up sign up sheets for teachers to volunteer as chaperones for the dance and targets for the dunk tank and pie toss, then flipped the television to CNN and tried to catch up on what was going on in the world.

After a morning of bodysliding and explosions in class, Aly was in dire need of coffee. The teachers' lounge was closer than the Perk so she made her way there, wondering just exactly why she'd decided drinking with Wade was ever, ever a good idea.

Josh was stretched out on the couch cradling a mug of coffee between his hands.

He was without his customary grin for Aly. "Elisabeth," he said quietly, turning back to the television.

"Josh," she agreed, reading his body language easily and pouring herself a cup of coffee before sitting at the table. She almost asked if he would punch her too for saying she was sorry but figured applying Deadpool-logic anywhere else was a bad idea. "I'm sorry," she said softly.

"For which part of it?" Josh asked his coffee cup. "I can't blame you for forgetting me...but I'm wondering why you though you and Roy were such a perfect fit."

"Fell asleep in the station Friday night," she said, eyes on him. "Basically I assumed that he was the only person I was sure I knew before Saturday morning."

He shrubbed his hands through his hair and looked away. "And one thing led to another," he said in a dull, defeated voice.

"Nothing led anywhere," she said quietly, wincing at his tone.

Josh hunched his shoulders up. "What did happen?" he asked softly. "My imagination has been absolutely killing me since yesterday."

She shrugged slightly, glancing down at her coffee. "I kissed him. And stayed at his apartment because I didn't know where I lived."

Josh had been hoping hearing details would make him feel better.

It hadn't.

He chewed on his lower lip before asking the big question. "Was this just a weekend thing?"

Aly stared at him. "What exactly are you asking?"

"Now that you've seen another option, I'm wondering if I have a place here any more," Josh said, sounding angry.

Angry was so much easier than hurt.

"Oh yes, you're right," she snapped. "I've only been with you because there were no other options. I don't know if I'm more insulted on my behalf or yours."

"I'm not an idiot, Aly," Josh snapped back. "There has to be something between him and you. God knows you spend enough time together."

Jealous boyfriend was such an unattractive look for him.

"Oh, right," she agreed, her voice sharp. "That's the only possible reason I could enjoy spending time with a person."

"I'm not thinking of you. I'm thinking of him!" Josh's voice had gotten a little loud.

He ran his hands through his hair. "You're beautiful and brilliant and strong and he's not blind!" Josh's eyes flashed. "And I'm not either."

"Not blind to what?" she asked, her hands clenched. "You keep implying things here, Josh, and it would be nice if you'd say what you're thinking straight out."

Cause, y'know, talking in a straight line was so something Aly did all the time.

"Because you're so known for that," Josh retorted, slamming his coffee mug down onto the table. "I think the sheriff has a thing for you. And I'm not okay with that. Happy now?"

"Insecurity's not a good look for you," Aly snapped. "I'm not staying away from my friend because he might have a crush that he knows better than to act upon."

"Like he did all weekend," Josh snapped back.

"Right, when no one remembered who they were," she said, pushing back from the table.

"I give him three days before he starts doing whatever it was that got you to kiss him then," Josh said, crossing his arms over his chest and ~~sulking~~ glaring.

"And since I obviously have no brains or honour of my own, or, you know, am dating someone I enjoy a lot, I immediately will kiss him." She stood up quickly, knocking the chair over. "Good to know that's what you think."

Well put that way his argument sounded incredibly stupid, but Josh was entirely too ~~pigheaded~~ stubborn to back down.

"I didn't say you'd do it. I said he wants to."

Aly stared at him. "You're pissed because you think someone might want to kiss me?"
