Teacher's Lounge, Wednesday Morning

The students were not the only ones that needed a break from the stress of finals and graduation, and so Ghanima set herself up in the teacher's lounge, large boxes of moddable goodies from JGoB on the tables. Her work for the semester was done, but that didn't mean she couldn't share.

Teachers needed sugar too, darn it.

"History is incredibly worthwhile, but me trying to talk about it when I have fuck-all to say isn't," Tyler answered. "Same goes if I try to teach kids how to blow things up again. I take a break, I do something else, I come back in July."

He raised an eyebrow. "Are you letting zombies teach again?"

"No, I'm just taught them about dead madmen," Ghanima replied. "Unless you count me pre-coffee as a zombie."

"Having been a zombie and a caffiene addict, I can say they are not the same," Tyler reported truthfully.

"See? You just taught me something very important," she teased. "Without you, I would not have known the difference."

"I might have just saved you from a rogue caffeine addict," Tyler suggested, finishing his muffin. "We're dangerous if you poke us."

"Worse than zombies," Ghani laughed. "I don't think I count as a member of the human race before cup number two."

"One of my tribe," Tyler told her. "How's the training going at Fight Club, by the way? I've been too busy with my own bouts to do mroe than glance over."

"They're doing better," she said cautiously. "Really, they'd benefit from getting to work out more than once a week, but most of them can at least stand and throw a punch better than they could before."

"Maybe I'll do that this summer, if the gym's hiring," Tyler mused. "I don't really teach how to fight, but it can't be that hard."

"You learned yourself, at some point, even if it was through trial-and-error," Ghanima pointed out. "Show them how to hold their weight, and form a punch. How to make a shin-kick count. They don't need to know how to be professional boxers."

"That implies rules." Of which Ghanima did not approve.

"And rules are bad?" Tyler asked, cynical on this point. "You have to decide some things off the bat, else people will just kill each other."

"That depends on what kind of fighting you want them to learn," Ghanima pointed out. "Fighting for sparring or show, then yes, there are rules. Fighting to get the heck out of a fight or survive an encounter, then they need to know how to fight 'dirty' as it were."

Tyler's eyes dropped. "You're right about that," he said. "Fighting to live, you don't wanna get fussy about who's keeping their shoes on."

"Although guidelines for training, that's something else altogether," she joked, gauging his reaction. "We don't want them accidentally hurting themselves or others."

"Only on purpose?" Tyler asked, wit h a slight smile. "No, you just got me thinking -- how do you teach a kid to fight for his life without killing anybody, on purpose or by accident?"

"Work with the guidelines until they're somewhat competent, then pass them off to someone they're probably unable to beat to learn how not to hold back," she answered. "I always trained against Leto or my aunt. The students here have people like Master Skywalker, Mayor Summers, or Deadpool, who can take a beating and keep going."
