Teacher's Lounge [Period 2 and on]

After her workshop, Veronica dropped by the teacher's lounge and put on a pot of coffee. She also had a tray of brownies she had baked over the weekend.

She sat at one of the tables and started working on her lesson for next week.

"Captain of what?" she asked.

"The First Aleran." After a moment Max remembered that that probably didn't mean anything to her. "It's a legion. A military unit."

Veronica nodded. "Militaries do seem to be constant in any universe."

"Wherever there are people, they'll want to fight each other, I guess." This didn't actually seem to bother Max too much.

"Yep, seems that way," she agreed. "So what do you think of Fandom?"

"I've only been here about a week, but I have to say I really rather like the place. It's peaceful, and interesting, and," he paused to shoot Veronica an appreciative look, "it's full of hot interesting women people."

Veronica certainly recognized that look and she smiled. "There are definitely a lot of interesting people here."

"What about you? I mean, obviously you liked it enough to come back after being a student, but..."

"I do like it here," she said. "I've met some really great people. In fact, I live in LA with six other grads."

"Afraid I'm not familiar with LA, but it says a lot about a place that you continue the relationships you made here after you left."

Veronica nodded. "It's a little crazy sometimes, but we wouldn't have it any other way."

Max chuckled. "A little crazy is good for you every now and again."

"Sounds like you'll have no problem adjusting to life in Fandom with that attitude."

"What can I say?" Max grinned. "I like to keep things exciting."

"That is definitely easy to do around here."

Veronica had no idea what he meant.

"You must know your way around here pretty well... Maybe you could show me around sometime."

"There's not much to see," Veronica said. "But, sure, I'd be glad to."

"I'm sure you're just jaded by all the time you've spent here," Max teased.

"It's a pretty small island, in case you didn't notice," she said.

"True, but it sort of makes up for that with a lot of interesting people."

"That is very true," she agreed.

Max finished his brownie (it was a good brownie) and grinned. "Well, Veronica, it's been nice to meet you." Really nice. "And I'll have to look you up sometime for that tour."
