Teacher's Lounge, After Fifth Period, Monday [ 07/06 ].

As was par the course for these sorts of things, Daisy had a ton of extra food left over from her class and, even though it was not at the end of the day and she was thinking something like a nap might be nice, she brought the extras down to the lounge to share with any other teacherly types that might be in need for some healthy muffins or cookies or dip.

Better than letting it all go to waste, anyway.

Tim had a box full of envelopes that he lugged into the teacher's lounge. He figured it'd be more fun to go through the stuff in here than in his office. Which he hardly ever used anyway.

Daisy arched an eyebrow a little at the box of envelopes. "Have some letters to send, do you?" she asked, and then offered out a box. "Muffin?"

"Thanks. No this is all for my class. I sent out for those tourist packets you can get from states with all this info on fun stuff to do and see. And it all came at once. I'm guessing due to the Fandom Mail service." He took a muffin. Mmmm, muffins.

"Hey, if it gets to be too much sorting through them all," suggested Daisy with a chuckle, "you could always just close your eyes, pluck one out at random, and build a lesson plan from there."

Tim thought about that. "That's a good idea actually. I think the biggest danger in all this is that I'll spend the whole time going 'Oh, I want to go there.'"

Daisy grinned a little. "That wasn't a threat before?"

"Well the temptation wasn't right in front of me before. I could keep it abstract."

"Oh, but where's the fun in that?" asked Daisy.

"Hell, I could get used to this," he said, before chowing down a bit.

And oh look, Daisy was trying rather discretely not to stare.

On the one hand, she knew it was all healthy. On the other....well, let's just say it brought to mind her analogy that she'd given Claudia about how one drop of chlorine in a scummy pool wasn't going to do much good at all.

"Hullo," she said. "Are you one of the newer teachers?"

"You normally get other people in a teacher's lounge?" Fred said, raising one blond eyebrow.

"You could have been one of the older teachers," reasoned Daisy, "and I've just missed you so far."

Although she couldn't imagine how.

"Yeah, I'm so overlookable. Or... whatever the hell word it is," Fred snorted.

"Unnoticeable?" Daisy offered helpfully. "Stealthy?"

"That," Fred said. "I'm Fred J. Dukes, that's what I am. PE teacher."

"Daisy Day," she offered back. "Health."

Pointedly? No, she didn't mention it pointedly, that'd just be silly...

Fred snorted a laugh. "Guess that means we teach the same sorta thing, huh?"

"A bit," Daisy agreed, albeit with a tone of reluctance because one of them was clearly doing a better job of living what they preached than the other. "I only really cover one day on physical education, though, unless you count the meditation bit."

"So what, you just cover... what?" Fred said.

"Healthy diet, mostly," said Daisy, hoping it didn't sound too much like a hint, thought part of her really wanted to point out its benefits. "How a combination of the right foods and the a little exercise goes a long way."

"You sayin' somethin'?" Fred said, chewing a bit on some food.

...but she really couldn't help it. Surely, he had to know anyway.

"Well, you've got to admit," she said, "it might not hurt to try it just a bit."

"Maybe you should try keepin' your comments to yourself," Fred said. "You don't end up like me just cause you ain't exercisin'."

No, no, it was a combination of things, most likely, but Daisy was good and keeping her comments to herself.

"In that case," she said, "I was only answering what you asked, what I'm teaching, what I do know a thing or two about."

"So what, I gotta prove I know something about it?" Fred said.

He swallowed his half-chewed mouthful of food and cracked his knuckles.

"That what you're saying?"

He wouldn't hit her, obviously. But he had something to prove, or so he thought.

Daisy arched an eyebrow and thought it was a pity that she didn't have her whole against the law to strike an officer thing under her belt at the moment.

"That isn't what I'm saying at all," said Daisy. "Just citing my credentials because I thought you'd be interested, but I supposed I called that one wrong."

"Name it," Fred said, popping his neck. "Tell me what I gotta do. You're judgin' by what I look like."

Because it had nothing to do with how much of an ass he was being.

"That ain't right."

"You...haven't got to do anything," said Daisy with a sigh, because there was certainly nothing short of dropping all that weight in a flash, and even if that were the case, she was pretty sure doing it that way wasn't exactly healthy either. "And, besides, the only judgment I've made is that you're not exactly a little slip of a waif, and you can hardly blame me for that one."

"Right," Fred said. Yeah, he was touchy about it. He was his biggest, no pun intended, critic on the matter.

"I ain't no slowpoke, just so you know," he said. "Got one hell of a muscle structure in here."
