[The Doctor sits at one of the tables in the lounge. He is taking notes on a piece of paper and sipping coffee that he has, yet again, taken from Spider Jerusalem's office--though he's left some money and a note to pay for it. Next to his coffee mug (which reads 'Per mare per terras'*) is a printout.
If someone were to read his notebook, it would look something like this:

After he finishes writing, he begins to read the printout, which is All About Homecoming Customs in the late 20th century United States.]
((*Because I'm a geek...that's the motto of David Tennant's ancestral clan, the MacDonalds. Translates to 'by sea and by land', which I thought was appropriate for a traveller.))

My interest in you is only as a colleague. I cannot speak for my sister.
He hesitates a moment, then:
I'll leave you to your reading.

Eventually, he speaks.
You were not rude. Only honest.

When it comes to me, that is.

[OOC: This is a new writer, and I have no idea what's going on with the Doctor and the Endless. Hence the cryptic.]

((Death fancies the Doctor. Sort of. It's weird and complicated, and the Doctor himself isn't entirely certain as to what's going on. She also has essentially claimed the Doctor as one of her own--she keeps a special eye on him.
That should just about catch you up. [smile]))

This place is an odd oasis. But a good one.
I think you are here for a reason.

Dimly, the sound of a raven's caw -- mixed in with rapid-fire speech -- may be heard from outside the window. Dream rises and walks to it, and lets in a plump black bird. They converse for a moment, and then Dream turns to the Doctor.
I must take care of something in my realm. I will see you next week?
