Free Period for Teachers -- Wednesday, October 12th

Sarah huddles in a chair over by one of the windows, not tearing her gaze away from her notes for anything.

Today's catered lunch is all Cajun, all the time. Sarah's starting to have a little fun trying to keep everything as varied as possible.

CJ walks in and grabs a bowl of rice and gumbo. Sitting down with her coffee that E gave her, she digs in. She skipped breakfast this morning so she could get here early enough to take Ash's desk apart and put it precariously back together and she's starving.

Gliding in, Seimei stopped by the table to see what culinary curiosity Principal Connor had prepared for them. "Well..." he said, an eyebrow lifting, "it has rice, it can't be that bad..."

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It's gumbo...like a thick soup that you eat with rice. Shrimp...sausage...vegetables...Fee-lay...it's got some heat to it. It's very good.

I'm CJ, by the way.

"Yes, the Communications instructor?" Seimei dipped some into a bowl. Shrimp, vegetables and rice, it sounded safe enough. "I am Abe no Seimei, history."

Lovely to meet you. How are your classes going this term?

Giving her a nod, he sunk into the floor to eat at the low table. "From the withered tree, a flower blooms." he said thoughtfully. "It has been an interesting experience."

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Your hyperbole stuns me. [She laughs]

Interesting is definitely a way to describe it. Where do you come from? I'm from Washington DC, most recently.

[identity profile] abe-no-seimei.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Washington, DC," Seimei said slowly. "That is the capital of this country?" He chewed thoughtfully in silence. "I am from where you would know as Kyoto, Japan."

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I've been to Kyoto. It's such a beautiful city. We went there for the accord meetings...

[biting into a pepper, she sucks in her breath to cool her mouth, then sips her tepid coffee]

Yes, DC...our nation's capitol.

Seimei waved his chopsticks at CJ. "You are far from home, too. How are you adjusting to life here?"

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm adjusting well, I think. It's strange here, from time to time...but the chaos has a familiarity. Also, I can't complain about my personal life at all. I'm making friends. How about yourself?

"My duties to the Mikado keep me busy but with my last set of predictions being implemented, I'm now looking at having a bit more time for social activities. I am afraid I haven't visited the town yet."

It's really lovely. If you would like a guide, I'd be happy to take you around. I live in the park, across from the rare bookshop, and I love to run and walk and just be out with people...

[identity profile] abe-no-seimei.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"That," he said with a nod in appreciation and a smile, "would be most welcome. As the weather is still lovely it's a perfect time to enjoy the outside air."

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps tonight? I'll check that the Doctor has no plans, and we could walk around and I could show you the most interesting places...as well as the places that you should avoid.

*CJ has an Endless sitting next to her. The second-made, the eldest sister. To shorten that, Death is there.*

Hello, CJ.

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[Smiles brightly]

Hello, Death. How have you been?

[identity profile] trulydeath.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm good, thanks! Del's not unhappy, and Morpheus' classes are going well, so if the family's okay, and Mine are okay, then everything's okay. And you seem okay, too, so that's another plus!

*Death rather is the equivalent, today, of enthusiasm.*

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm better than okay. I'm taking life as it comes, I'm in love, I have a marvelous job...and...everything is just wonderful. I should thank you for the talk we had. It gave me a lot to think about, and I'm better for it.

[identity profile] drgrissom.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Grissom enters the lounge, and is pleasantly surprised that his coffee goes well with gumbo but he'd kill for a beer.

[identity profile] trulydeath.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*Death can't help but be a little bit nosy.*

... What's the current project, ma'am?
