Teacher's Lounge: [1/16]

Susan opened up the Teacher's Lounge, and left a selection of muffins and bagels for the teachers. Might as well get acquainted, so they'd know who to send the problem students to, if needed.

She stopped, frowning at a magazine someone had left on the coffee table.

People? Must be American. But who on Earth was J-Lo?

Eighth gives her a small smile. "Yes, really."

"That's amazing." Susan studied her closely, then shook her head. "Forgive me, I've never met a robot before. I honestly couldn't tell you weren't human." She paused, and looked thoughtful. "And that was meant as a compliment, by the way. I assume you were meant-- do mean?-- to look as close to human as possible. But aren't human-looking robots called androids?"

Really, all she knows of robots, susan has seen at the cinema. But it's utterly fascinating. She has a million questions, but doesn't know how to begin-- so many of them seem rude in context.

"Some androids have a more mechanical feel to them than others," she says vaguely. "I'm more sophisticated than some."

"Apparently." Susan smiled. "And you're teaching Cyborg Theory? Is any of it based upon your own experiences?"

"I taught Cyborg Theory last semester; and yes. Most definitely," she says with a small smile.

"I'd love to talk to you about the differences between human psychology and cyborg some time, if it's not too intrusive?" Susan smiled. "And perhaps coffee. I understand the Perkolater makes excellent coffee."

She gives her an honest smile now. "I'd like that, doctor."

"Wonderful! I'll stop by your office hours later this week, and we'll make plans then." Susan smiled, happy to have possibly made a new friend, and coped with Fandom High at the same time.

"That sounds lovely," she replies.
