Teacher's Lounge: [1/16]

Susan opened up the Teacher's Lounge, and left a selection of muffins and bagels for the teachers. Might as well get acquainted, so they'd know who to send the problem students to, if needed.

She stopped, frowning at a magazine someone had left on the coffee table.

People? Must be American. But who on Earth was J-Lo?

"Good morning, my dear Ms Pevensie," Autolycus smiled back. "I'm Autolycus, the King of Theives, but you can call me Auto."

"It's lovely to meet you, Auto. Feel free to call me Susan the Queen of Narnia." She smiled and poured herself another cup of coffee. "I'll be working at the clinic as of today. May I ask what you teach?"

"The pleasure is all mine, Susan," Autolycus did a small half-bow. "Of course you may, I teach art. History of Art and Studio Art to be more precise."

Susan resisted the urge to give him a sweeping court curtsey; in his tunic and leggings, the bow looked amusing and charming, but in her slacks and red sweater, a curtsey would be ridiculous. "Have you lived in Fandom long? Apparently there are other new teachers here, as well as ones who've been here since the school opened."

"Not long, I've been here since just before New Years, it was something of an unexpected move."

"I shan't ask you what your favorite part of the Island is, then. You're probably still trying to find your way around, like I am. Although I did notice that Galactica Point seemed very pretty." Taking a sip of her coffee, she said, "Unexpected move?"

"I'll have to go there sometime, I'm a very big fan of natural beauty," Autolycus stroked his beard. "It was very much unplanned, one moment I was in Sparta, then next Fandom."

"You weren't even solicited to teach here?" Susan asked in surprise. "I received a letter, but it was extraordinarily sparse on details. I suppose I should be grateful that I received any warning at all, then." She paused, tilting her head. "Sparta. Were you working there on an art project of some kind?"

"I didn't even know this place existed until I got here. An art project?" Autolycus nodded. "You could say that, I was looking into accquiring some of the pieces in King Leondias's collection."

"So you're a collector, as well as a teacher. You must be quite the expert." Susan smiled. "King Leondias? What period was he from? I'm afraid I don't know anything at all about Greek art. Or much about it at all, really."
