"We did. Some work colleagues, some friends, my mother flew to Vegas for the holiday. In our former occupation, you tend to become close with the people you work with, so some of those work colleagues are also our friends. A few were free for Christmas, which was... pleasant, and my best friend and her daughter came out to lunch.

He listens to her speak, honestly with varying amounts of interest, but he finds her enthusiasm intriguing and her method of speech engaging and illuminating.
"I don't know if I can say with any honesty I know much about politics, but you certainly have me convinced," he smiles.

Leaning forward and resting her chin on her palm, she grins. "You don't strike me as the most political kind of guy, Gil. But I won't hold it against you."

At the lunch bell ringing, Gil stands up and gives her a polite nod. "Good to see you, CJ. Take care of yourself. If you need anything...you know where my office is."
