Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

"Funny, I could have sworn I saw you the other night. But maybe it was just a drag queen with the same dye job."

"If a drag queen had my hair, honey, then it was no dye job. Or wig. And he must have been one very pretty man."

"Oh, he was pretty as you, dearie. Had the same nose and everything."

"How nice that he was blessed with such attractive features, then. Though he must have gotten a lot of teasing when he was young for looking so feminine."

"Kids can be so cruel. Did you get teased for having such a masculine jaw?"

"Why on earth would someone tease me for a feature I don't have? You on the other hand must have gotten absolute hell for that hair."

"You just keep telling yourself that, sweetheart. The only problems I have with my hair is people being jealous, which is forgivable. Especially with people who leaned a little too heavy on the bleach bottle."

"As opposed to the ones who color theirs with sharpies? Did the fumes go to your head, or have you always been a bit on the . . . simple side?"

"No, I was just using small words so they didn't go over your vapid little head."

"While the effort is appreciated, I think you'll find it unnecessary. Though I'd hate for you to strain yourself trying to use larger words."

"I wasn't aware that two week acting workshop gradutes learned polysyllabic words, but I'll be sure to use them from now on."

"Trust me, honey, I know far more about acting than you're ever going to learn in your entire lifetime. I learned from the best." Daisy looked over Abby's outfit again. "I'm also a damned good hand with the hair and make-up, should you ever decide to try a role other than 'Ed Wood flick extra'. I'm afraid Bela Lugosi's dead, honey, and he isn't coming back. ~~I quite possibly reaped him myself.~~"

"I'm sure you do. I thought about taking an acting class but couldn't fit it in around my masters degree." Abby smirked. "Ed Wood? We've come back to the transvestites again, dear. Something you want to confess?"

"You know, I've usually found that the people who are the most determined to promote the fact that they have a higher degree are those who don't have a single other skill. Which really is very unfortunate, but I'd be happy to give you some extra-curricular lessons if you like." Daisy smirked right back. "And I was referring more to the fact that he was voted the absolute worst director of his--or any--time. Perhaps it's you that has transvestites on the brain? It's nothing to be ashamed of, honey. Perhaps you could learn something from them, too."

Abby laughed and raised her Caf-Pow in a toast. "I concede! You are much better at this game than I am."

"You just need more practice, honey." Daisy raised her coffee in return. "You show some real promise, though."

"Thanks!" Abby smiled. "I think I've gotten out of practice here at school. Too many hours spent with students and not enough adults."

"God, honey, I understand that. It's very easy to just find yourself working on your classes, and completely missing out on social situations."

"We need to have more teacher/adult activities." Abby looked around. "Hopefully with less glitter."

"It might be easier if some of the places in town actually carded."

"For the sake of my popularity among the students, I'm not going to advocate a change in that rule."

"Never seen much point in a drinking age except to let the adults have some time alone, anyway. But we'll have to see about getting people together more often."

"Elliot and I were talking about a bowling league." Abby suggested.

". . . Bowling, huh? Well, it would be social, I suppose,"

"Social plus we get to wear borrowed shoes!" Abby grinned.
