Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

"I'm doing quite well," she said, returning the grin. "The school year is off to a fairly smooth start, and I can't ask for much more than that."

"Indeed," he agreed. "It's very good to see new faculty and students here even though I've yet to meet all of them. And I've not yet had to intervene in any situation. I consider that a smooth start."

"Yes, we acquired quite a few new faculty members. I'm still learning names myself. And I'm very glad to hear that you haven't had to intervene. That's a good sign as well."

"Perhaps there won't be any unusual occurrences as well?" Fraser asked and, as soon as it left his mouth, he wished he could take it back. "Which may be very wishful thinking on my part."

"I'll knock on wood when I go back to my office, and maybe that and our combined wishful thinking will keep anything bad away," she suggested.

"I'll be very wishful then," he said. "And don't knock too hard on wood. Might bruise your knuckles."

He laughed and looked down. "Perhaps I'm being slightly irrational..."

"Maybe a little bit. But it's an endearing kind of irrational," she said with a smile.

"I've been told I can do irrational well at times," he said, shrugging. "That and, from my own former partner's mouth, very, very weird."
