Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

"Hello yourself," Josh said, grinning back. "I'm Josh Lyman, the government teacher."

"Abby Sciuto, computer teacher." Abby held out the hand that wasn't wrapped around a Caf-Pow.

Josh shook her hand, then looked at what she was drinking. "Oooh," he said, "what's that?"

"This.." Abby shook the cup. "Is a Caf-Pow. It has twice the caffiene of coffee and enough sugar to send an elephant into a diabetic coma."

"It is the best thing ever."

"I must have this product," Josh said with conviction. "Political campaigns run entirely on caffeine, nicotine and fear."

"Sounds a lot like what NCIS runs on." Abby grinned. "All and Sundries has Caf-Pow for sale, or I have a private stash that gets shipped in."

Abby shrugged, there were just some things worth paying for.

"I have something to do after this is over, then," Josh said with a grin. "Only 34 days until the election, after all. Why waste them sleeping?"

"Are you running for something in particular or just a general political junkie?"

"Total junkie," Josh said. "I used to be the Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bartlet."

He clearly expected her to be impressed.

"Whoa." Abby was impressed, if a little confused. "What's he President of?"

"The United States," Josh said. "In my dimension, a wonderful place where we've never even heard of George Bush."

"That's amazing!" Abby grinned. "And deputy chief of staff is pretty cool too!"

Josh cracked up. "I like to think so," he said when he finally stopped laughing. "What brings you here. To Fandom, I mean. Not to the party. I'm guessing the promise of free food was enough for you, too."

"Oddly enough, I came for the socialization. Although the sandwhiches aren't bad." Abby smiled. "I needed a break from the craziness of NCIS so my boss scored me a teaching job on this calm little island."

Josh's eyebrows went up. "You work for NCIS?" he asked. "They do good work."

"Awww...thank you!" Abby grinned. "Since I'm the only NCIS employee here I'm going to take total credit for everything the agency does."

Josh laughed. "Sounds like a good plan to me. I'd call myself president, but I think I might get caught."

"You're too young to be president." Abby smiled. "But since you're from a different dimension you could tell everyone whatever you want and no one would know the difference."

"There used to be another teacher from the White House--my White House who would call me on it," Josh said thoughtfully. "But she's gone now." He grinned. "Did I ever tell you about how they renamed Nebraska in my honor?"

"Joshaska? That's not entirely flattering." Abby said after she stopped laughing.

"No, no, no. Nelyman," Josh said. "Way better."

"Way better than Joshaska, but maybe you should look for a better state." Abby grinned. "Lyoming? Joshigan? Wisjoshin?"
