Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

[wait for ocd have at it!]

Finally getting into the swing of meeting people, Aziraphale wandered over toward the young man in the uniform and offered his hand.

"Good afternoon! I'm Aziraphale, the new Prophecy teacher."

"Good afternoon to you as well, Mr. Aziraphale," Fraser said. "Constable Benton Fraser, head of school security."

"Oh! I didn't realize the school had security. That's good though," Aziraphale added quickly, not wanting to sound as if he was putting down Fraser's position. "What with the zombies and jello dragons and all. Quite."

Okay, so the angel's social skills were a little hit and miss at times.

[ooc: No worries!]

Fraser smiled and said, "Despite all the oddities at the school, most of my work comes from routine school occurrences. Fights, arguments, unruly students, truancy, and the like. The oddities are just...another part of the position."

Aziraphale looked surprised. "Really? Do you often have trouble with fights and truancy here? They seem like such a nice group of young people. I can't imagine they cause you very much difficulty."

Obviously, he'd been a little sheltered thus far from the mischief a school full of teenagers could get up to.

"Thankfully, it's not too common," he assured. "And I'm very happy about that. While there have been some infrequent situations of that nature, the students are really quite well behaved."

Aziraphale smiled. "Well, that's very good to hear. Although I suppose when it's one's job to keep things orderly, it's nice to have a bit of disorder now and again. Do you like working here in Fandom, then?"

"I enjoy it very much," Fraser answered. "It's a change, certainly, but one I think I needed. Aside from the occaisonal invasion, it's really quite peaceful."

"Yes," Aziraphale chuckled. "Life in Fandom does seem to be rather feast or famine, as far as excitement goes. I'm not complaining, though, I rather like the quiet. Have you lived here very long?"

"I'm approaching a year here," Fraser replied and blinked when he realized that was true. "And yourself? What brings you here?"

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"This is actually a return trip," he replied brightly. "I was here about a year ago, and spent six months living in town. But now they've sent me back, and I've been here all of about two weeks. This time as a teacher, of course."

"Oh, well, welcome back then," Fraser said, smiling again. "And how are you enjoying teaching?"

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you, my dear." Aziraphale beamed back at Fraser. "So far, it's going quite well, actually. Better than I had feared, since I've never taught anything before. But my students seem interested, so I expect as long as I can keep it that way, things will work out well."

"What courses are you teaching, if I may ask?"

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Prophecy. A regular class plus a lab, actually. And I've been rather surprised at how much interest there's been."

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"A subject you've some experience in then?"

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Er...I suppose you could say that. Although it's always been something of a hobby of mine. I have a really lovely collection of prophetic writings. Some quite rare editions, too."

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Another subject I know very little about," Fraser confessed. "I've already admitted my lack of knowledge about the internet to Miss Sciuto. The diverse education the students receive here is really quite astounding."

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Quite." Aziraphale had to whole-heartedly agree with that statement. "But you shouldn't feel at all bad for not knowing anything about prophecy, or the internet for that matter. I've rather discovered that I could stand to take most of the classes being offered here. Ms Gilmore-Danes is teaching about popular culture, which is a subject I'm quite sure I'd fail miserably."

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Popular culture has never been my strong suit," Fraser said, agreeing. "Miss Sciuto offered me a chance to attend a class or two if I was able. And, since there are no classes on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, I'll just watch and learn for now."

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
"You never know, perhaps you ought to see if they'd let you teach one," Aziraphale suggested. "I might sit in on Dr Covington's class, myself. And perhaps Dr Arroway's astronomy class. I don't know the first thing about astronomy...or any sort of science, really. So I expect I ought to remedy that."

Abby class probably would have been a good choice, too, but he wasn't sure he wanted to subject the poor woman to his utter lack of understanding about the internet.

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
"I might find myself in all classes at one point or another," he said lightly. "Any type of knowledge would be beneficial. And, perhaps, enjoyable."

Re: Meet & Mingle

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"I completely agree." Aziraphale nodded, thinking it might not be such a bad thing to at least poke his nose into the other classes at some point.

Thinking he'd best be moving on to mingle a bit with the other guests, he smiled at Fraser. "It was very nice to meet you, Constable. I do hope to see you again."

[ooc: Night!]

"And you as well," Fraser returned. "I hope to speak to you again soon."
