Faculty Lounge, Monday, noonish

Emma had found her office, but as it did not yet have enough white furniture or booze, she'd quickly relocated to the faculty lounge. That might not have white furniture either, but it did have a sofa which she was currently lounging in while reading 'Betty Crocker's Cookbook'. Every once in a while she picked up a red pen and made comments in the margins. A cup of tea was steaming happily on the table beside her, and her fifth attempt at muffins were piled up on a tray. They were probably not poisonous.

"What flavor?" he asked. "Banana nut?"

"Um," said Emma. She looked at the muffins. "They should be plain. And tasty." There was possibly an emphasis on 'should'.

Emma frowned at him. "I do." She turned her head to look towards a bowl some way away. "You could try the glazing, if you wish." The glazing bubbled.

"Don't think we've been properly introduced," the Doctor said. "I'm the Doctor."

"Emma Frost." Emma blinked. "Doctor What?" Even superheroes usually had more of a name than that.

"Just the Doctor," he said. "The definitive article."

"Interesting name," said Emma. "Do you teach here?"

"Adventuring Survival," the Doctor said. "Tips and tricks to make sure they don't get themselves killed out in the world."

Emma nodded in approval. "A very good topic. I hope it is well attended?"

"It's full up," the Doctor said. "Don't know if they'll all be in attendance, but you can hope. Don't start until Friday, me."

"You lucky bastard. I have first period tomorrow." Emma made a face. "Have you taught here before? What kind of students can I expect?"

"Since mid-summer, actually," the Doctor said. "Students here are nosy, stubborn, lovable, and mostly quite, quite mad."

"Very much like home then," Emma commented with a smile.

"Where is home, Miss Frost?" the Doctor asked.

"Salem Center, a jump and a skip and some parallel dimensions away, I believe."

"Nice place, Salem," the Doctor said. "Been there several times. Probably not in your dimension, however."

"Ever run into people with strange powers calling themselves Cyclops, Shadowcat, Beast, Chamber or similar?"

"Can't say I have," the Doctor said. "Though I have had my own Marvel Comics series."

"Then you definitely haven't been in my world," Emma agreed. Zomg! The Doctor is a Marvel character!

"Who are they all. Funny names, really," the Doctor said, as he started picking at one of the muffins.

"X-Men," Emma said. She considered how that sounded, and added; "Superheroes."

"Oh, lovely," the Doctor said, finally tasting the muffin. "Are you a superhero as well?"

Emma blinked, a little startled by the concept. "...Yes. Yes, I am."

"Fantastic," the Doctor said. "That's brilliant, that. Saved the world, lately?"
