Faculty Meeting - Monday Before Classes

There was food. There was coffee. Heck, there was even tea for those who couldn't handle the good stuff. There were also chairs littered throughout the room, a portable whiteboard with different-colored markers off to one side and Biff, of course, keeping guard.

Hades is here even though he got shot last night (he's fine, thanks for asking). Why aren't you?

Rose heard Susan's announcement. "When are you leaving?" She asked, before adding, "I'm Rose by the way."

"I have the opportunity to return my home," Susan said, unable to suppress a smile. "It wasn't possible before. I've loved the year I spent here on the Island, but I can't let this pass me by. I'm just sorry to be leaving when all the new people are coming on board."

"Good for you!" Rose said, it's really hard not to connect that with her own experience. "I know how it feels when you're unable to go back to your home."

"You're not able to return to yours?" Susan asked, her own good fortune making her wince. "I'm sorry if that's the case."

"It's rather impossible, world would literally end if I even attempt to," Rose said, but now she's starting to wonder... "But I've made my peace with it."

"I thought I had, but-- after a year here, I found I was better prepared to go home." Susan gave Rose a serious look. "I hope you get the chance someday. But if you don't, Fandom is a wonderful place to be."

"Yeah, this place is wonderful, people're so accomodating!" Rose said, "I'm still hoping too, but I try not to think about it too much."

"I can understand that. What are you going to be teaching here?"

"Pop culture," Rose said, smiling.

"Always important, with the number of displaced students we have," Susan said. "Is it going well so far?"

"It's been brilliant!" Rose said, beaming, "I've never taught before and was a bundle of nerves the day I started but it went better 'an I expected!"

"I'm so glad." It seemed fitting that someone else should be coming in with so much enthusiasm, as she was leaving. The Island would go on fine without her. But she'd take what she accomplished here with her when she left. "You'll find that the positives here outweight the negatives. The students are a huge part of that."

"Everyone's been lovely really, both students and teachers." Rose replied, smiling. "Made everything easy settling in."
