Someone looking into the lounge might think that Vala was being conscientious--she was writing industriously on a legal pad, cup of coffee and something called a doughnut by her side.

The first page was covered with notes from her lecture the day before--mostly about places to rob and possible accomplices. Not that Karal person, obviously, but her class had a number of nice prospects in that regard.

Each page under the top one had a name of one of the locations, the valuable items noted by the students, and any possible drawbacks, including security.

Cairo was still looking pretty tempting, though.

"You certainly may," she told him, "and thank you. It's a lovely place so far. Stunning scenery."

"Glad I could be of service," Ares replied. "Not that my own view doesn't have much to recommend it."

Vala grinned, "And how do you feel about sightseeing?"

"I'm a fan," Ares said. "A big one."

He better live up to the hype, that was all she was saying, "And where would you recommend, for someone who's new in town and all?"

"I can highly recommend 15 Griffin Way, any time of the day or night," Ares said. "Ignore the annoying blonde. She's just there for decorative purposes."

"I'll definitely keep that in mind," and she would, "as soon as I find how far that is from where I am, at 18 Apocalypse Avenue."

If he got annoying, she could always move out of the basement. "And how decorative?"

"If you'd like, I could show the way right now," Ares said, because pacing yourself before you got to the main event was for chumps. "You'd think that someone who's clothing choices make the Goddess of Love look like a prude wouldn't be such an ice queen, but there you go."

"It is a lovely day for a walk," she decided, standing up and gathering her notepad, "And you, er, wouldn't know any Egyptian goddesses, would you?"

She didn't recognize him as a Goa'uld, but it never hurt to check.

"I thought so." Ares grinned and gestured because 'ladies first' were words to live by. "I've met a couple. Weirdoes the lot of them, with their animal fetishes."

"I appreciate that in a man," she said, preceding him out the door, winking at him over her shoulder, "Or a god, for that matter."

'Ladies first' also meant more opportunities to check out Vala's ass. Which Ares totally took. "I just hope I can live up to people's expectations."

Vala put a little sway in her hips as she walked, "You can't call yourself a god and not meet expectations. That's just false advertising."

"Never let it be said that I'm not a god of my word," Ares said, still focused on Vala. Well, parts of her.

"I'd certainly never tell an entire galaxy if you weren't."

Of course she would. Possibly on the bow of a stolen ship and every frequency she could find.

Ares laughed. "I doubt that's going to be an issue."

"Exactly!" She slowed down until her pace matched his, since she didn't really know where she was going yet. "Not that I'm in it for the money, of course."

"Of course not," Ares said. "And I have no doubt that any man who tried to suggest such a thing would soon find himself less of one."

Ares reached for Vala's hand, intending on doing the old kissing the hand thing. Ladies loved that. "I do my best."

Vala let him take her hand. It was an old move, but she appreciated the gesture.

"I wasn't sure you'd noticed," she said, though that was a lie. Of course she'd noticed him noticing. What else was black leather and cleavage for?
