Staff Meeting, Friday (After Classes) [10/31]

The teacher's lounge was set up in much the same manner as usual for the faculty meeting, except that there was a variety of candy out as well, in keeping with the theme of the day. If nothing else, Zoe figured chocolate and sugar were well-deserved by those who continued to survive working here.

Tyler was there, still in the rhino costume.

It was surprisingly comfy!

Minsc couldn't help tilting his head slightly at the giant pink horned animal costume. Even for him, that was just bizarre.

Tyler nodded the costume head in a salute. "Hey."

Minsc nodded back. "Hello!" he said. "That is...quite the piece of costuming, I must say! Do such creatures naturally come in as vibrant of colours in this world?"

"They're normally kind of muddy gray," Tyler admitted, shrugging. "This is based on a kid's TV host. I think it's supposed to be cuddly or some shit like that."

"...I see," Minsc said, although he clearly didn't, eying the yellow horn on the costume and thinking that it looked about as cuddle as a mountain bear.

Which were not, for the record, cuddly at all.

"... I wanted to be a zombie," Tyler explained, a little lamely. "Shop sent the wrong costume."

That got a bit of a grin out of Minsc. "Whoops."

Miss Bennet was trying very hard not to stare at her landlord.

Miss Bennet was failing at such.

Wordlessly, Tyler stared back

Miss Bennet was going to regret asking this. Except ... it was possible that the island had gone mad again, and he would appreciate it if and when he were himself again. Wouldn't he? She would certainly have liked to have been locked in a closet while she was declaring herself to be one of the undead.

(Never mind that her closet had been in use, holding victims' bodies.)

"Are you feeling well?" she asked.

"Peachy," Tyler said with a grin as he reached for the coffee. "A little warm. How come?"

"I was, I confess, somewhat curious as to why you chose this morning to dress yourself as a large, fuzzy, pink animal," Eliza said. Wondering for a moment if perhaps she was having a particularly odd dream.

A grin played across Tyler's face as he considered keeping the joke going for a moment longer by pretending to find nothing at all odd about his outfit. In the end, and because it was Eliza, he told the truth. "It's a Halloween costume," he explained. "A kid's TV host. The shop sent the wrong thing and I decided to go with it."

"Costume?" Eliza said. A few moments later, she burst out laughing. "Oh, thank heavens, I thought perhaps everyone had gone mad again."

She had notte Enjoyed her Tyme as a Vampyree.

"Nope, I'm no crazier than usual," Tyler grinned.

Sam blinked when she spotted Tyler. "That's a very different look for you."

"Think it catches me at my best?" he asked, almost flirting. "Costume shop sent the wrong thing. I decided to play with my students' heads a little."

A beat. "To be honest, taking it off won't suck. It's kind of itchy."

"I think it's something I never, ever expected to see you wearing, not that it's terrible," she conceded, "Need help? I can probably manage the zipper."

"I think it's terrible," Tyler conceded as he thought about the offer. "Actually, I can get the head, but if you wanna unzip the back at the end of the meeting, that would be really helpful. I have sweats on underneath."

"I can definitely do that. How'd your students take it?"

"One of them thought it was cute, but I think she'd think anything furry was. The others looked at me like I'd lost it. But they got to make peanut brittle, so...." he shrugged. "I think it evened out."

"How's physics?"

"Not making peanut brittle," she grumped. "Last week was about light, and most of them managed to stay awake."

"You can always throw things if they go to sleep," Tyler advised. "Or hit the desk and see if they jump."

"If I was in your class, I could blow something up."

"I could do that," Tyl;r mused. "Build some small charges that would detonate before they got to the students -- lot of noise, not much else." A beat. "I have a new project."

"I'm so happy I could help." She paused and considered. "Actually, I'm not doing anything tomorrow, if you want to use the science lab instead of your apartment."

"House," Tyler corrected absently. "Either way, that sounds like a good idea. I'll stop in."
