Free Period for Teachers -- Monday, October 17th

Sarah makes sure that the hoagies, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and other barbecue food are spread out for everybody to eat.

She sits down in one of the chairs and starts scribbling down notes, leaning over the notebook so no one can see what she's writing. She may be writing a Regency romance novel based on the Fandom High faculty, but you won't get her to admit it. Because she's not writing one, see.

It's entirely possible she's trying to picture Ash during the love scenes, but since she's not actually writing a romance novel -- *shifty eyes* -- she's not really picturing him, is she? Nope. No, sirree.

Daniel enters with yet another cup of coffee, and seats himself in the corner. He's brooding.

ooc: *looks around* Anyone got the brain bleach and some steel wool?

[CJ walks in with a bottle of Jack Daniels' and sets it in front of Sarah as she writes. Without a moments hesitation...]

Principal Connor...can we talk?

[identity profile] prof-methos.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos comes in, grabs some coffee, and approaches Daniel. "Daniel Jackson, right? I think we're neighbors."

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel looks up at Methos. "Uh, yes," he says. "I'm Daniel Jackson. Are we neighbours? I'm afraid I've been out of town, and only got back this weekend."

[identity profile] prof-methos.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I took over the apartment from CJ. Just moved in last week. Adam Pierson. I'm the librarian."

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel holds out his hand. "It's nice to meet you, Adam. Is it okay if I call you Adam?"

[identity profile] prof-methos.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos shakes his hand. "No, I don't mind at all." He drops into a chair. "Mind if I bug you a bit?" He doesn't stop for an answer. "A few weeks ago when one of my library assistants was not... er, herself, she was reading something that looked like a variant of Egyptian hieroglyphics. I flatter myself that I can read many esoteric texts, but this one baffled me. Any idea where I could look to figure it out?"

[The Doctor is prepping for his class, in front of a sheaf of papers and a huge mug of coffee. He watches the conversation between CJ and Connor (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandom_lounge/8768.html?thread=101184#t101184) closely but surreptitiously, and says nothing.]

The whiskey was a nice touch.

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel frowns. "What did it look like? Like yourself, I can read a number of esoteric texts, including several based on Egyptian hieroglyphs.

And you say that it was one of your library assistants reading? A student?"

The penny still hasn't dropped. Daniel clearly needs more coffee today.

RC eyes the food with mild disgust but finds herself a seat and runs her fingers through her hair. She is not looking forward to tonight's class.

[identity profile] prof-methos.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos shoves his hand through his hair. "It looked... like someone had taken hieroglyphics and de-emphasized their pictographical qualities. At a guess, it would be a form of writing that would be able to express more abstract and technical ideas, but only if one could *read* it. And Janet seemed to have no problem reading it."

[[OOC: I'm good-not-great with SG-1 stuff, so if I have misrepresented Go'ould writing I apologize.]]

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel's head whips up. "Janet?"

[[ooc: That looks fine to me... I'm not great with the Goa'uld technical stuff myself *g*]]

[identity profile] prof-methos.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. Janet Fraiser. She's one of my assistants. You know her?"

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm only hopelessly in love with her! he thinks.

"Ah, yes I do actually. Quite well as a matter of fact."

[identity profile] drgrissom.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Grissom sits down next to The Doctor with a large stack of papers to correct. "I see that the lovely Ms. Cregg is as intelligent as she is beautiful," Grissom smirks light-heartedly, gesturing to the whiskey CJ offered to the prinicipal.

[identity profile] prof-methos.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. Good. Well, anyway, she was rather, um, definite about not giving me any info on the script, so I thought I would check with you. And clue how to decifer it?"

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel winced. "I... I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to help without seeing it. There are so many variations which sprung up, you know, and without visual identification, I'm not sure if I can help you."

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm deeply concerned with the actions of professor Drusilla. She's manipulating students, and I was nearly stabbed Friday. Dean Bristow says he's taking care of it, but I wanted you to be involved as well. [Looks at what she isn't writing] But I realize you are very busy...

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[The Doctor speaks quietly and nods.] Quite, I'd say, Professor Grissom. Shrewd as a fox, and just as dangerous if you cross her. my vixen.

[identity profile] prof-methos.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah... how many variations can there be? I mean, the culture was so stable for so long -- " And I should know, bloody boring place to be sometimes... "-- that the writing did not so much change as get subsumed by other alphabets." Methos shrugged. "Anyway, I only got a quick glimpse. Not enough to produce anything like a reliable example. It's not a big deal, I was just curious."

[identity profile] the-ascended.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, broadly speaking, trade was an influence on it, and also there were a number of groups that were... uh, relocated, shall we say, developing their own version of the writing.

And curiosity is not a bad thing. I'm only sorry that I can't help you."

[identity profile] drgrissom.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, I may be foolish, but I am not a fool" he laughs. "I have nothing but respect for Ms. Cregg. The true man wants two things: danger and play. For that reason he wants woman, as the most dangerous plaything." Grissom nods. "Of course, I would never dare say that to a woman's face."
