Josh clicked on some buttons, grinning to notice that his classes had been filling up faster than CJ's. "Donna's fine," he said absently.

Then paused.

"Wait. How do you know about Donna?"

"You and I have a mutual...friend." Josh receives a large grin. Nothing Ten enjoys more than being deliberately infuriating.

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-06 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Josh didn't get paid the big bucks, um, the government wages, for not being able to put things together quickly.

"Oh. CJ," he said.

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-06 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aye." The grin turns vaguely sappy. "The Doctor, nice to meet you."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-06 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Josh, being Josh, doesn't notice the sappy grin. He holds out his hand to shake. "A pleasure. What do you teach?"

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-06 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Quantum Physics." Ten shakes his hand firmly. "Or how to twist one's brain into knots for credit."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-06 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Around here? Sounds like a class with some seriously practical applications."

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Yours sound more applicable, actually. My class is focusing on 20th century America, though...perhaps I could pick your brain from time to time." Never mind that quantum physics and the '60s don't seem to connect.

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"And I can't believe I'm asking this, but when you say 'pick my brain,' you're speaking metaphorically, yes?"

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ten looks up and looks completely innocent. "Me? Yes. Someone else might not be, though."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Guess this means I'm learning, then?" Josh laughed. "Strange place you folks have here. And I say that having seen more of rural Indiana than could be considered strictly necessary."

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ten is tempted to hum the dueling banjos theme from Deliverance, but doesn't. "Mr Lyman...even I think this place is weird. And I was in the Bay Area in the 60s."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Good to have that as a reference," Josh said with a grin. "Um, not that was there or anything, but I've heard stories."

He cleared his throat. "And speaking of weird, has your phone been kind of..wacky...this morning?"

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Actually...I keep getting messages from people that I didn't call. Or see recently." Ten looks confused. "Maybe the system is buggered."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
"I've gotten a lot of calls from strangers," Josh said. "And way more information about the sex lives of people I've never met than I'm ever going to need in my life."

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
The Doctor tries not to blush as he realises... "Oh, shite."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Josh quirked up an eyebrow. "I'm betting I don't want to know. Am I right?"

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"You really, really don't. Really."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Got it. Moving on." He looked at the man. "I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your name."

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ten smiles as if he knows something Josh doesn't. "The Doctor."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
If Josh thought the Doctor's name was a bit on the pretentious side, he didn't mention it.

"A pleasure," he said.

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Likewise. I've heard a lot about you and your coworkers. Most of it good, though some of it was truly inspired ranting."

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, all of the nice stories were true," Josh said. "The rest was vicious slander."

[identity profile] ten-and-chips.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course!" Ten grins at him again. He likes this Josh.

[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, you know CJ," Josh said with a huge smile. "Nice girl, except for the chronic lying."
