Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

"Good afternoon." Mary nods to Lorelai, "Am I correct that you are the one to thank for this lovely get together?"

Lorelai smiles. "Yeah, I figured it would be a good idea for us to all meet," she says. "I'm Lorelai."

"A capital idea. I'm Mary Poppins." Mary said.

Nanny senses tingling.

"And who is this?" She asks leaning over to Bucky.

"This is Bucky," Lorelai says with a grin, holding him up. "He turned two months old the other day."

"Well congratulations Bucky." Mary smiled as she tickled him lightly on the cheek. "And to you as well."

"Thanks," Lorelai smiled back. "My daughter is a senior here," she added.

Mary nodded approvingly. Despite being a person who was normally making her living by raising other people's children for them, she much preferred that people take a role in the lives of their sons and daughters.

"Oh that's lovely, to be able to give her an experience of living away from home while retaining the ability to be a part of her life. I trust she's doing well here?"

"Yes, she is," Lorelai confirmed. "She's got an eye on Harvard for next year."

"If I'm not very much mistaken that's a rather prestigious American university." Mary said. "You must be very proud."

"It is and I am," Lorelai smiled. "What did you do before coming here?"

"I worked primarily as a nanny." Mary said before taking a sip of her tea.

"Oh, that's good to know," Lorelai said. "I have a babysitter lined up, but you never know when you'll need a backup. Would you like to hold him?"

"Certainly, I would." Mary said. Who certainly didn't become a nanny because she didn't like children.

Lorelai handed Bucky over.

"How long were you a nanny?" she asked.

Mary took Bucky gently in well practiced arms.

"Oh, for quite some time." she said mysteriously.
