Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

Lorelai is looking forward to meeting some of the new teachers; most of the people she knew last year are gone now.

"You used to run that karaoke club in town, right?" Lorelai asked. "My husband and I were there on New Years Eve. I'm Lorelai."

"Nice to meet 'cha Laurie," Lorne replied offering his hand for a handshake. "You're the one teaching that whole American culture class, correctamundo?"

"That's me," Lorelai confirmed, shifting the baby so she could shake Lorne's hand. "And this little guy is Bucky."

"Well helllllllooooo there cutie!" Lorne said to the baby and making all sorts of cute faces at Bucky. "Well isn't he just adorable."

Lorelai smiles. "Yeah, I figured it would be a good idea for us to all meet," she says. "I'm Lorelai."

Nanny senses tingling.

"And who is this?" She asks leaning over to Bucky.

"This is Bucky," Lorelai says with a grin, holding him up. "He turned two months old the other day."

"Well congratulations Bucky." Mary smiled as she tickled him lightly on the cheek. "And to you as well."

Deciding that it would be a good idea to move away from the wall and actually get out and talk to some people, Aziraphale approached the woman he thought might be their host for the gathering.

"Good afternoon, my dear. I don't believe we've met, although I think you must be Ms Gilmore-Danes, if I'm correct. I'm Aziraphale, the Prophecy teacher."

"I am," Lorelai confirmed. "But please, call me Lorelai. It's nice to meet you."

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Lorelai."

Aziraphale was careful to make a point of using her given name, even though it probably wouldn't stick, and next time he'd be back with calling her 'Ms' again.

"This really is a lovely get-together, and it was good of you to think of it."

"I'm glad people are enjoying it," Lorelai said. "We had a lot of teacher turnover last year. I'm hoping if we form a good support group, that won't happen this year."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I have to say, though, that everyone I've met so far seems to be very pleasant. I'm certain there won't be any problem keeping teachers this time."

He looked around the room and smiled, really pleased to see so many people, especially considering what Lorelai had just told him. "May I ask what subject you teach, my dear?"

Lorelai waved at Daniel. "Hey, Dr. Jackson! I think we're the only ones left from the beginning of last year."

Daniel smiled and waved back. "Call me, Daniel," he said. He glanced around the room. "I think we are, yes."

"Did you teach over the summer?" Lorelai asked. "I took some time off because of this little guy." She indicated the baby in her arms.

"Hi, there," said Daniel, smiling and waving his fingers in front of Bucky. "He's beautiful. What's his name?"

He shook his head. "No, I went to Egypt on a dig," he said. "Only got back into Fandom hours before I was to teach my first class."
