Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

John spent a moment observing the other teachers as he sipped at his coffee. It had been a long while since he'd been to anything like this and he might have been feeling a little awkward. Not that he'd willingly admit it.

"Hey, John," Logan greeted his housemate. "How's your first week been?"

"Interesting," John settled on. "First class went smoothly and it looks like a good bunch of kids." He paused and gave a faint wry smile, several days of distance allowing him to see the humour in the situation. "I also had a student protester."

"Protester?" Logan blinked. "What did they do, handcuff themself to the classroom door?"

"Don't give him any ideas," John said dryly. "No, he stood outside my classroom chanting 'Hunting is muder.' He'd also made up a sign with the same 'slogan' on it."

Logan arched an eyebrow, amused. "Championing the causes of, what, demons and ghosts?"

"Pretty much, yeah."

He shook his head wonderingly. "Does he expect you to just drop the class or what? From all I hear, your class seems like a pretty good one considering everything that happens here."

John nodded. "The kids here are a lot more likely to need to know this stuff than your average teenager. I asked each of them for their experience with the supernatural and if they'd been here longer than a week they had a whole list of things, even if they'd never experienced anything before coming here."

Mary nodded to the gentleman sipping his coffee.

"Hello there, I take it you're a new member of the faculty as well? I'm Mary Poppins."

"John Winchester," John said, nodding back.

"And what do you teach Mr. Winchester?"

"Hunting," he replied. "Paranormal Studies Department."

"Paranormal? So not animals then? I take it there will be no class trips to Darkest Africa for your students if that is the case."

John chuckled. "No, that's a little further afield than we'll be going. There's plenty enough dark things right here in the US that I haven't found a need to branch out to other continents."

"That is both fortunate, and unfortunate at the same time."

"Believe me, no one would be happier than me if I ran out of things to hunt," John said. "But it doesn't look like that's likely to happen."

"Well it's good to pass on knowledge and experience in any trade, particularly important ones. How did your first calls with the future hunters go?"

"Things went well. They seem to be a good bunch of kids. How about you? First class go okay?"

"I have a wide range of experience, talent, and confidence in my group." Mary mused. "I believe they have as much to learn from eachother as they do from me."

John nodded. "I've got everything from a half demon to a kid -- who just happens to be an exact double for my younger son -- who thought he was signing up for a deerhunting class."

Mary tilted her head slightly.

"Well, sometimes it is the students who have something to teach the teacher."
