Staff Meeting, Friday Afternoon (after classes)

The teachers and staff had all been handwavily notified that the first faculty meeting of the semester would be this afternoon, and even if they hadn't read the e-mail, the food in the lounge might have given away the fact that something was going on. As usual, there had been splurging for pie, and a number of moddable flavors were spread out across a table, with other goodies from the bakery, and a variety of drinks. (All non-alcoholic, of course. Surely, it was too early in the term for anyone to need a real drink!)

There was something very strange about being at one of these meetings. Two weeks into her new job and Aeryn was still feeling like she was seeing behind the scenes stuff she wasn't supposed to. If she ever used the word 'awesome' in a way that didn't describe something actually deserving of awe like a hot dog, this would kind of be it.

She'd just get some coffee and be over here.

She might have been away from the group, but Ziva still spotted her. "Good afternoon," she said, stirring coffee of her own. "How are you doing?"

Shhh she'd gone to school here in the days when John was getting turned into an animal weekly.

"It seems to be, in my experience. I have not yet had to yell at a student either." That was a good thing, even though it might not have entirely sounded that way. Yelling was good for teenagers, really.

"I just started over the summer, so not all that long, compared to some of the others," she said. "I do not know how some people have managed to stay here for so long without losing their minds completely."

The nice thing about office hours on a Friday was that they saved Tyler a special trip to the school for staff meetings. He took a slice of cherry pie and a seat on the couch that gave him a good vantage point on the room as a whole.

Fraser arrived, uniform pressed and crisp, with a bottle of water. He'd been drinking coffee since this morning and since it had done it's job (he was no longer tired), he'd switched to water.

The coffee was still hideous, but the pie was wonderful. Colette took a slice to dissect with her fork, wondering if she tasted cinnamon in the blueberry filling.

Nick was in the corner, smiling quickly to anyone who looked his way but largely avoiding people.

Jim grabbed a cup of coffee and settled into a chair. As he looked around, he couldn't help but feel that it was weird that his fellow teachers weren't weirder. As far as he could tell, at least.

Ronon loved these meetings, even if he was fairly certain people were going to die from eating all that pie and not exercising.

"Good afternoon," Zoe started. "I'll keep this short since I know you all have a weekend to enjoy. I just wanted to welcome all of our new teachers, and welcome back those of you who have stayed at the school. This place may be a little crazy sometimes, but I think the stability we have comes from all of you. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to come and speak to me, or Deadpool, or Barney, or Fraser." She assumed that with those options, people would come to her or Fraser, but there was no telling with the group of teachers they had. "That's all I have for now. Is there anything else we need to discuss?"

Sirius lifted a hand lazily. "I've noticed that the students in our class aren't in uniform," he said. "Are they supposed to be?"

"No, the students here don't have uniforms," Zoe said, "except in physical education class."
