Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

Josh had coffee and a good feeling about the elections.

Josh was in a great mood.

"Hello!" Abby smiled as she passed a teacher she hadn't met yet.

"Hello yourself," Josh said, grinning back. "I'm Josh Lyman, the government teacher."

"Abby Sciuto, computer teacher." Abby held out the hand that wasn't wrapped around a Caf-Pow.

Josh shook her hand, then looked at what she was drinking. "Oooh," he said, "what's that?"

"This.." Abby shook the cup. "Is a Caf-Pow. It has twice the caffiene of coffee and enough sugar to send an elephant into a diabetic coma."

"It is the best thing ever."

"I must have this product," Josh said with conviction. "Political campaigns run entirely on caffeine, nicotine and fear."

"Sounds a lot like what NCIS runs on." Abby grinned. "All and Sundries has Caf-Pow for sale, or I have a private stash that gets shipped in."

Abby shrugged, there were just some things worth paying for.

"I have something to do after this is over, then," Josh said with a grin. "Only 34 days until the election, after all. Why waste them sleeping?"

"Are you running for something in particular or just a general political junkie?"

"Total junkie," Josh said. "I used to be the Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bartlet."

He clearly expected her to be impressed.

"Whoa." Abby was impressed, if a little confused. "What's he President of?"

"The United States," Josh said. "In my dimension, a wonderful place where we've never even heard of George Bush."

"That's amazing!" Abby grinned. "And deputy chief of staff is pretty cool too!"

Mary nodded to the well dressed gentleman going nuts over the caffinated beverage rather then the lovely young woman holding it.

Josh smiled back. "Hi!"

"Hello." Mary said holding out her hand. "I don't believe we've met, I am Mary Poppins."

"Josh Lyman," Josh replied, shaking her hand. "I teach government."

"American Government? Or government in general?" she asked.

"American," Josh clarified. "Not, um, interplantary or anything." He paused. "Wow is that weird to say out loud."

"I suppose international politics were complicated enough." Mary smiled.

"Add in two students--one from the 1800s and one from 2800-something and I'm pretty sure my head's going to explode," Josh admitted.

"That would be a most unfortunate way to end one's term." Mary said earnestly.

"It really would," Josh agreed.

"Have you always been a teacher Mr. Lyman or have you worked in the government about which you now instruct?"
