Staff Meeting, After Classes, January 9

The teacher's lounge was once again set up for the staff meeting, with plenty of food and drinks, and one very glaring principal. ~~Mwahaha!~~

Ghanima did not even bother to hide her amusement. The irony of the situation, especially considering the conversation she'd had with Merlin on Monday, was just too damned funny for words.

"You are aware that like Miss Corrino before us, my brother and I are melange addicts?" she asked bluntly. It was not as if her use of the Spice was a secret. "For me to lecture students about drug use would be hypocritical at best, especially considering the vast amounts of underage drinking that occurs on this campus."

It was like she had read ~~his ping~~ his mind, and Tyler leaned toward Ghanima after she was done talking to Zoe.

"Think we should work together?" he asked. "It sounds like we're sympatico on this one."

"If, by 'simpatico', you mean that I have an extremely low opinion of this farce, then you are correct," Ghanima replied quietly. "Perhaps we should warn the little darlings away from the perils of caffeine, if we are going to be responsible adults."

"That. That's why we should collaborate." Tyler glanced down at his mug reluctantly. "Caffeine? I can tell you it stunted my growth."

Given that he was past six feet tall, it might be assumed he was joking.

Ghanima nodded in agreement. "I am not putting any more effort into this than we have to," she murmured. "Next week, at Caritas? We might as well take advantage of our adult privileges while we brainstorm."

"I'm a big fan of that idea," Tyler agreed. "Besides, I might work better after a few beers."

"We just don't want the kids to do drugs that are illegal here." A beat. "Non-alcohol ones. Because if we took that away, they'd revolt and it would be Umbridge aaaaall over again."

The man in the red bodysuit was worried about the children doing drugs. Fantastic.

"So we are to pick and choose which laws are enforced and which are not?" she asked, folding her arms. "My, how very autocratic of us. Simply charming."

"Isn't that what being an adult is about?" Deadpool asked very slowly. "And, really, I could care less what laws they follow and what they don't. I just wanna see this assembly."

A beat.

"And J. Jonah Jameson get a goddamn haircut!" The hair. It mocked him.

"Being an adult is about making responsible decisions," Ghanima countered. "Like, perhaps interviewing each member of your staff individually before starting to toss about mass accusations based on an unnamed source. Or uniformly enforcing the rules with the students, rather than teaching them that sections of the law are optional."

"If you wanna take the bar from them, you can feel free," Deadpool said, shrugging. "But--didja grow up on earth? Because I remember the more I was told not to do something, the more I wanted to do it. That might explain my career path, but that's not the point! Mass accusations are where the fun is and--barring your kooky melange use and rather impressive glowy eyes and truly massive backstory. And I though Fabes was bad. He ain't got nothing on Herbert--this really shouldn't be considered us making a stand against drugs. Because we all know how well the D.A.R.E. program worked in the US."

Oh, teaching kids about drugs they would probably never see in their lives other than that.

"So, if telling students not to do something only makes them want to do it more, the point of this assembly is... what, exactly?" Ghanima asked sweetly.

She was going to wait and see if anyone else in the room could finish the end of that line of reasoning. By his argument, it seemed that they were about to promote illegal drug use, because drugs were bad.

"I have no idea, but it seems like fun."

Your vice principal, ladies and gentlemen.
