Staff Meeting, Friday Afternoon (after classes)

In order to check on all of the teachers once the first week was over, Zoe had sent out a ~~handwavey~~ notice for the semester's first faculty meeting. The lounge had been cleaned and set up with coffee, tea, and a variety of offerings from J,GOB to entice people to come - and to get them to stay, assuming Zoe's gaze didn't do the trick

"I'm sure the students appreciate that," she said. "Loki? Named after the Norse God?"

Man, his parents must have not liked him.

"Oh, you are new," he said, amused. "Don't know what I am, do you? I thought the word would have spread by now."

Paige studied him but unfortunately whitelighters did not possess the ability to sense when someone was supernatural so she gave a shrug. "Sorry, your reputation has not proceeded you."

"I wasn't named after anyone," he said, grinning. "The name's mine originally."

Blink.

Blinkblink.

"Why would a mythological god be teaching high school?"

"I'm not a mythological god, I'm a fucking angel," he said, snickering. "Like the ones in Heaven. Those kind. With wings. I used to the Angel of Death but I've since retired."

"... you're an Elder?" Paige asked.

Give her a moment.

"What the fuck's an Elder?" Loki asked. "I'm not that fucking old."

"Wait. You said you had wings?"

Paige didn't know of any Elders or whitelighters with wings. So he was obviously a different kind of angel.

"Sorry," she said. "The governing body of angels in my world is called the Elders."

"Yeah, I'm not on any governing body and I do have wings," he said, pointing to his back. "I'd show you but I'm winged out right now. My students wanted to see them yesterday."

"Maybe some other time," she said with a bit of a smirk. "I'm half guardian angel. That's actually why I'm here. Apparently there is someone here I need to protect."

"Guardian angel?" Loki asked, raising an eyebrow. "Those things fucking exist? I thought they were for fairy tales."

"Nah, in my world they exist," she said, glancing over at the food table. "Doughnut," she called. A doughnut appeared in her hand in a shower of white lights.

"Show off," Loki said, amused. "That your little talent? Making something appear in some girly white lights?"

"Oh, I've got a lot of talents," Paige said. "That's just one of them."

"Are you going to be collecting lost teeth?" That was the tooth fairy but Loki didn't care. "Giving money for the losses?"

Paige laughed. "No, I'm not the tooth fairy. I'm half witch too, so I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve."

Like making bad rhymes.

"Too bad, I always wanted a visit from the tooth fairy," Loki said. "So, you're here to protect someone? Just get roped into the teaching bit randomly?"

"Well, maybe I'll make an exception for you," Paige said. "And, yes, pretty much. The Elders said they needed me here but didn't give me any other details."

"Do you even know who you're supposed to protect?" he asked. Seemed like she didn't.

"No. The Elders are oh-so-helpful."

"Aww, so it's kind of like a fucking treasure hunt," he said, laughing. "What if you're supposed to protect me?"

"Do you think you need protecting?" Paige asked.

"Sometimes." He shrugged. "You think you could protect me?"

"Probably. Depends on who or what you think you need protecting from," she said.
