Staff Meeting, Friday Afternoon (after classes)

The teacher's lounge had been relatively unharmed by the gremlins, which made it much easier for Zoe to get everything set up for the meeting than she'd been expecting. Today was a day of pies when it came to the baked goods, and there was the usual assortment of hot and cold drinks as well. Before she unlocked the door, Zoe made sure to check the room for gremlins one last time. She wasn't really up for taking chances today.

Eat, drink, mingle, etc.

Paige helped herself to a piece of pecan pie and a cup of coffee.

Summer grabbed a cup of coffee and a slice of apple pie. She could never say no to pie.

Tyler had coffee and a cheese danish. Life was ... not entirely awful.

Sirius had tea and scones. He looked quite pleased with himself.

Mmmmm...delicious, brain-saving coffee. Cindy was having plenty of that.

Jim grabbed some pie. He'd already been through his class, so he didn't really need to touch the coffee now.

"Hey, Jim," Paige said, giving a little wave.

"Good afternoon And congratulations!" Jim said. "It's always good to see that a new teacher survived the weirdness."

Paige laughed. "Thanks. That actually wasn't all that bad. I knocked a couple out by TK'ing them into a wall and spent most of my time at Caritas to provide transportation if people needed it. I see you survived as well."

"I'm not sure about that. I saw things I'll never be able to unsee," Jim said, shuddering. "But I'm alive. So that counts for something."

"Definitely," she agreed. "And you weren't injured at all?"

He didn't look injured, but that didn't mean he wasn't.

Steve helped himself to a cup of coffee and a slice of peach pie. What, you were expecting apple?

"Well, I'm glad to see everyone made it through last weekend in one piece," Zoe said with a smile. "Judging from history, that probably won't be the last time something comes to the island and tries to take over, but as you might have noticed, we're well-equipped to handle trouble around here. I've already been informed about the damage done to the library - if any of your offices were damaged, let me know and we'll see about getting things fixed up."

"In much more pleasant news, there's going to be a winter carnival this weekend, and thank you to those of you who already signed up to be in booths. If you want to sign up now, you still can. I know last weekend was stressful for everyone, so making things a little lighter might be nice, especially for the new students who just learned how crazy this place can get. Hopefully, we'll have a few quiet weeks now. Is there anything else anyone would like to discuss?"

"So do we have some kind of phone tree set up to notify everyone when something weird goes down like last weekend?" Paige asked.

"Most of the time, we use the radio to keep everyone informed of trouble," Zoe said. "But I know a lot of people have an aversion to the radio. A phone tree might not be a bad idea."

"I'd be happy to volunteer to put something together," Paige said.

Zoe smiled and nodded at Paige. "That would be wonderful, thank you."

Jim raised his hand before speaking up. "What kind of pie are people going to be throwing?"

Zoe laughed. "Cream pies, I hope. Possibly something with fruit in them for a little extra color."
