Faculty Party - Friday Afternoon

Lorelai was grateful that Bucky took a nap for part of the morning. It gave her plenty of time to transport food from the diner to the teacher's lounge.

She got everything set up and even decorated the lounge so it would be a little more festive. Since it's Lorelai, that means she hung up some balloons and streamers and covered everything with glitter.

Everything was ready in plenty of time and she was sitting on one of the couches giving Bucky a bottle, waiting for people to start showing up.

Zoe figured that it would be a good idea to be present at the faculty party, if only to meet the new teachers that she hadn't gotten a chance to see yet.

"You've made it out of your office," Fraser greeted with a smile. "I'd began to wonder if you were living in there."

"Ha ha," Zoe said dryly, smirking nonetheless. "I do occasionally leave, for important social events such as this."

"And such a pleasure it is to see you at this particular social event," he said and grinned. "How are you?"

"I'm doing quite well," she said, returning the grin. "The school year is off to a fairly smooth start, and I can't ask for much more than that."

"Indeed," he agreed. "It's very good to see new faculty and students here even though I've yet to meet all of them. And I've not yet had to intervene in any situation. I consider that a smooth start."

"Yes, we acquired quite a few new faculty members. I'm still learning names myself. And I'm very glad to hear that you haven't had to intervene. That's a good sign as well."

"I'm happy to finally meet you," Aly said with a smile. "I'm Alianne, one of your new teachers."

"Ah, another face to match with a name. It's nice to meet you," Zoe said. "How was your first class?"

"It was certainly interesting for me," Aly replied. "Hopefully as interesting for the students."

"I don't think any drop requests have come through the office, so you must have done something right," she pointed out.

Aly grinned. "They all still think they're going to be James Bond by the end of the class."

"You mean they're not going to be super spies that can get away with anything?" Zoe laughed. "Oh, how will they deal with the disappointment?"

"So did we make it through the first week of classes without any teacher killing a student?" John asked wryly.

Zoe laughed. "Yes, as a matter of fact, we did. And as far as I know, none of the students are currently animals either. It might just be a fall miracle."

"That's very good news. I'd hate to have to field questions in my next class about werechipmunks or something."

"That would be a very unfortunate use of class time, I think. Have you had any more protesters come by?" she asked.

"No. Just one student who missed class since he was sick." He smiled. "It may not have been the best way to handle the situation, but maybe I scared Blair was it? off for good."

"For the sake of your sanity, I certainly hope so," Zoe said. "And if he does come back, you'll know how to handle him."

"Hey, boss," Josh said with a cheerful smile.

He'd had a lot of coffee and the poll numbers were looking good out of Ohio. He had a lot to smile about.

"Well, hello there. Welcome back," Zoe said brightly. "You look like things are going well."

"We might actually have a shot of taking back the House in 34 days!" Josh said, grinning harder. "And there weren't buckets of slime this week! Life is good."

"Congratulations on that," she replied, not having a clue what he was talking about concerning a house, but if it made Josh grin like that, it couldn't be something that bad. He wasn't one of the crazy teachers, after all. "And I agree that any week without slime is already off to a good start."

"Though the bunnies were kind of cute," Josh said. "I'm man enough to admit that."

Logan paused as he passed Zoe on his way to the buffet table. "Hi, I'm pretty sure we haven't met yet." He offered his hand. "I'm Logan Cale, the Media Studies teacher."
